anyone ask keyspan to put in a gas line to the house?
how $$ was it?
We REALLY don't want to give up having a gas stove...... and we also want to eventually install an on demand water heater..... but our soon-to-be home is fairly recessed from the street... I'm almost scared to find out......

They did ours for free - I believe if your house is no more than 100 feet from the gas line in the street it wont cost you anything. Just tell them you plan to switch everything to gas and they may do it for free even if your house is more than 100 feet away.

We wanted to, but the gas line was 900 feet away and unavailable by KeySpan standards.

Just call them to find out where it is in your neighborhood. Then take the decision from there. It can be costly. We just got a quote. But ask first and get quote if it is near your home and see what they can do for you. Also you can have your on plumber do the work in the house for you. Then Keyspan is only charging you for the line from the street to your house. Then the plumber will charge you accordingly for where the piping needs to go to in the house. Keyspan is running specials right now. GL!

For us to do the whole changeover from electric to gas, it would cost $5000.......

Re: anyone ask keyspan to put in a gas line to the house?
Our (future) property is in a slightly wierd configuation relative to the street.
It is behind our neighbors house... We share the bottom part of the driveway with the neighbor. I heard from the current tennant of the house we're buying that the neighbors below us paid $$$ for installing the gas line... but that also means it's currently right next door, so hopefully, we only have to traverse up the hill to the house....
I already emailed keyspan (w/ no response, as of yet), so I'll call them soon....
thanks!
