Anyone become fluent with a language learning program?

I was wondering if anyone has had success using a language learning program - whether something like Rosetta Stone or a live program?

I would love to be fluent in either French (which I've studied before) or Spanish (never studied) but not really sure how to accomplish that short of picking up and moving to Paris or Barcelona Chat Icon

I think they are a good start toward becoming conversational / proficient, but I don't think they will be able to create fluency.

I truly believe that the only sure way to become fluent is to immerse yourself in the language. I spent my junior year of college in France and that is what did it for me.

Tapes are great for listening comprehension but you won't get much experience speaking.

Have you considered the language immersion institute at SUNY New Paltz? They have weekend immersion programs that are highly rated.
