Kelly - your stories are giving me chills!!!!
DH has a friend who's father died a few years ago. He worked for the RR and at his funeral, just as the priest was saying a prayer, a train went by and whistled......we've always thought that it was his father saying goodbye
This story is about my FIL... I thought the same thing about the funeral! We also heard it at our wedding....

Re: anyone been "contacted" be a deceased loved one?
I truly believe the deceased can contact us through our dreams. The first time i experienced this was when I was 10 yrs old. My aunt was killed in a car accident on her 30th birthday. I was close to her in the sense that I looked up to her as my cool aunt...so when she was killed I was crushed. The night she died I went to sleep and dreamed that she came to me and told me not to be afraid, be strong for my family and said she just wanted to say goodbye. I will never forget the look on my mom's face when I told her that the next morning!
Also, and I know this will sound dumb to some people, but my dog Pepper passed away when I was 23 and I had her for 16 yrs. Every now and then I will dream of her and it will feel so real, like she's right there with me. One night I was dreaming of her and my DH came to bed and said I was asking for Pepper...where is she? He was like, she died a long time ago, Jen! It was so sad but it felt SO real!!!

Re: anyone been "contacted" be a deceased loved one?
A story about another...
My sisters ex-bf's best friend died in the WTC attacks on 9/11.... He was 22 and worked at Marsh. His mother combed the streets the days after 9/11 looking for his body at hospitals and such. About 4 days later, his mother said she saw Paul walking away from her down the street and yelled after him "Paul, Paul". Paul turned around toward her, smiled at her his familiar smile, turned back and continued walking down the street. She said she knew then he had passed on. She also said that lights go on in the house and the tv always turns itself on to channel 2 after they turn it off. Channel 2 was the channel they watched when the news broke.

Re: anyone been "contacted" be a deceased loved one?
When I was 18 my grandfather passed away when I was away at college...and right after he passed away strange thing started to happen in my paretnt house. We were al sitting around eating dinner and my mother has this huge Wall strugture that is bolted to the wall.. it came off the wall. And all the appliances started to stop working.. it was really strange. The weird thing is the night before I got married I had a dream and it was my grandfather telling me that i am marring a good man and that he is very proud of me.. and i felt his hand in mine and i smelled the faited smell of smoke.. (he was a big smoker)It was really freaky!!!
and last year when my grandmother got sick and ws in the hospital she was startting to show signs of imporovment but she would have still been very bad.. we got a call from the Dr telling us to get tt the hospital.. she has passed away before any of us could see her. We were very close.. My family ( not DH's) I can count on my finger. they said she just stopped breathing.. I am convinced to this day my granfather was looking over us.. listing to us cry and yell at each other and he came to her and told her it was time to go and put us out of our misery and let us move on...

Re: anyone been "contacted" be a deceased loved one?
my uncle died suddenly of a heart attacked about 15 years ago. after the funeral my mom was at my aunts house in the den w/ the family. all of sudden my cousin (about 25 at the time) gasped and pointed out the window. on the railing of the deck in broad daylight was an owl. the owl sat there for a few minutes then turned its head, stared at everyone and slowly flew off. they all thought that was a sign from my uncle saying, "i am fine and watching over you".

Re: anyone been "contacted" be a deceased loved one?
Back in 2000 a few days before my grandpa passed-
I had a dream where he was telling me that he needed to go and be with my grandmother ( she died before I was born). He spoke to me in a clear and very normal voice. He totally explained his need to go and it was very comfortng for me.
He had been suffering from some kind of neurological problems kind of like alzhimers and @ the time he was on a respirator. It was at the point that we were waiting for the hospital to give us that dreaded call.
After my "dream" i was @ peace with everything.
