Anyone been to Breezes Bahamas?

It doesn't get the best reviews, but I'm thinking of booking a 4 day trip for January. How bad can it be? It's a really good deal too, $635 all-inclusive, including direct airfare. Any opinions?

On expedia.com I looked at a bunch of different islands and this was by far the cheapest I found. The dates I searched for are Jan. 12-15.

i went to Breezes Jamiaca, but this was about 10 years ago and it was awesome. My friend went to the breezes bahamas and she liked it. It's nice for a few days to get away and not go broke.

Re: Anyone been to Breezes Bahamas?

I went with my then boyfriend (now dh) in 2000 with 6 other girls. We had a blast. It really was the best vacation that I ever went on. There is 24 hr entertainment if you want to particapate you can if you dont they dont pressure you. All you can eat all you can drink. Smoothie machines thoughout the place with bottle of rum right next to it you serve yourself.
I honestly ate and drank so much DH actually made a comment that it was like i never saw food before. That and the fact that the clothes that I wore down there didnt fit me 5 days later on the flight back Chat Icon

I'm going for a few days after Christmas for the first time, but my parents have been there twice and said it's totally laid back and a great time!

The same package is only $595 today. Chat Icon I need to convince DH that we should go before the price goes up.

Re: Anyone been to Breezes Bahamas?

I've been to Breezes Bahamas twice in the past year and will probably be going again in the next couple of months—NOT because I love it there, but because we stay for free, if I had to pay to stay—NOWAY! I have much higher standards when I'm spending money. The beach is nice (but you will constantly be approached by locals selling stuff, which doesn't bother me, but it does some people...), the pool area has the potential to be nice, but at times the water in the pool was so skanky—it was so thick, presumably from everyone's suntan oil and a poor filtering system, it actually had a funky smell to it=Gross! There is a Breezes logo on the bottom of the pool that you can barely see—duh, don't put a logo on the bottom of the pool if you aren't going to keep the water clear enough to see it, it only points out how nasty the water is. The breakfast buffet is pretty good, we usually skipped the lunch buffet and just had hot dogs and nachos from the poolside concession stand (pretty good) and the dinners are so so. I highly recommend making reservations in the restaurants for dinner, it's much better than the buffet, but even they are just okay (very inconsistent). The staff is not the friendliest or the most helpful either, even the bartenders have attitudes at times. Which I can easily shrug off because I'm not paying to be there (but they don't know that). The entertainment staff is fun and the nightlife is okay to good at the resort (depends on the crowd at the time), but by the second or third night you will realize you are hearing the exact same songs each night and it gets very old. The pajama party and toga nights are fun and I found most guests do participate (which was not the case when I went to Breezes Jamaica). Anyway, both times I've gone, I've gone with girlfriends/family and we always have a great time (how can we not, it's free alcohol, beach and sun). But if I was paying to go there, I think I'd be very disappointed, unless I got a steal! When my husband and I take vacations we usually splurge on nicer resorts, so if you are used to something like that, it's impossible not to be disappointed here.
Oh and if you do go, snorkel on the Ninja boat, that was great. You can't miss it—just listen for the captain yelling "Time to board the Ninja boat now!," while you're on the beach.

Re: Anyone been to Breezes Bahamas?

I went there in 2000 as well with my boyfriend (not DH). We had a really good time. I think it's definitely a nice spot for people who are low-maintenance. It's not a huge resort, but it packs in all the best amenities pretty nicely.

Oh, and DO try the trapeze! I'm scared as hell of heights, but I loved it after like the 3rd time!

PS: Can you take me with you!? Chat Icon

Me and my sister went there 4 years ago - we had a great time.

The food, water, beach activities - was great - I would go again.

Re: Anyone been to Breezes Bahamas?

I went there about 6 years ago when I was 17 with my best friend. We had a really good time. They usually have some kind of show every night. Very relaxing for a nice quick getaway.
