anyone catch coxsackie from DC?
Last Monday, daycare called to say DD had 103.2 fever, so DH went to pick her up. She didn't have any symptoms, like runny nose or cough, so we brought her to the pediatrician. Since she is 18 months, and had a high fever, he checked her for a urinary tract infection (NOT FUN, I assure you) and sent us home.
We kept her home the next few days. She cried when she ate, and didn't like to drink. I noticed one little blister on her tongue, and two on her thumb where she sucks on it. I wasn't sure whether it was a blister from sucking on her thumb a lot (she was really relying on it while she was sick). Then on Thursday, I developed a sore throat. It is KILLING me, my poor baby if it hurt her this much! When I looked in the mirror today I could see a few blisters in the back of my throat, and I have a few blisters on my fingers and toes. I think I have hand-foot-mouth disease, and I must have caught it from DD.
I didn't even know adults could get it- has this happened to anyone else?

Although it is pretty rare, adults can get coxsackie. We have had a few teacher's catch it at my day care. Feel better

Yep, I got it from my son and it was bad. I ran a 104 degree fever -- but I think I had an unusually bad reaction. I have heard that most adults will just get a sore throat, if they contract it all, which most don't.

I *just* had coxsackie a few weeks ago - it was terrible. they say its rare for adults but when they do get it - its much worse for adults than children.

Yeap, I got it from my DD a few weeks back. But be careful it can go from coxsackie to an ear infection. Thats what happened to both of us.

So far I seem to have caught everything that DS has had except for coxsackie. I think I even caught some things that he brought home from daycare but he was okay.
