Anyone deal w/fever blisters?
I deal with them in general but maintained them under some control with the help of Valtrex pills. Once I felt that tingle, pop a pill and two days later I was pretty free of it.
Well, I got one which tipped off that I could be pregnant and been dealing with them since. I just felt a tingle and yup, its the start of one. For no reason EITHER!
I hate them!!
Doc states that I can take the Valtrex (one pill is all I need) and it wont harm the baby or me. Im scared to though.
ETA: look at related post....ONE IS MINE!

Re: Anyone deal w/fever blisters?
I get them and i HATE them. i've been pretty lucky (knocking on wood) that i havent gotten them that often since i'm preggo. i got one in the beginning but that was it.
i was told u should take it when u get close to the end to help prevent a break out from delivering. i guess b/c of everything your body goes through it is common to get them them. I HOPE NOT!!!
I'm actually going to talk to the dr about it when i go back at the end of the month to see if its true to take the pills at the end.

Re: Anyone deal w/fever blisters?
I used to get a fever blister once or twice a year. The last time I had gotten one before my BFP was on my HM- which was almost a year and a half previous. So imagine my surprise when I got two in my first trimester. I just treated them with regular Carmex and they didn't last long. I haven't gotten any since then though- thank goodness. I think your body is in an adjustment phase at the begining of pregnancy. In my first trimester I felt fine- no morning sickness or anything, but I got sick a lot more than I ever would. I had two fever blisters, had tonsilitits that I needed medication for, and then I had a really bad stomach flu for 4 days.

I got 2 a few weeks age. The doctor told me not to take anything and to just let it runs it course. It went away after a week. They were really annoying!
Good luck!

Im not sure if this will help for you, but when I do get them which is rare, the one thing that always seems to clear it up is Blistex (the white cream in the little tube). The medicine does something to it.

That or the Carmex. I find it works better then Abreva.

Re: Anyone deal w/fever blisters?
I used to get them alot to it runs in my family. I didn't take any meds but i took GNC pills called Lysine and it is a pill you take. Your body does not product it and that is why people get the coldsores. But i have not had it in awhile. But they said being preggo they say you get the more. I have not had it yet. But i will be waiting for it. Hope you feel better. I dry mine out with rubbing alchol and then put blistx on it.
