anyone deliver at stony brook recently?

I delivered there a couple years ago, but can't remember a few things.... I am packing and want to pack light!

Do they provide Lanolin for us?

What did you wear on your feet during labor?

Did they provide juice during labor? I remember having juice when I was in labor with DS #1, but not sure where I got it from?

What is the lanolin for?

During delivering I wore the hospital socks they gave me (with no skid bottoms).

No juice allowed during labor; only ice chips.

The lanolin is for breastfeeding after... I think I remember they had samples, but I have such a terrible memory!

Anyone else? I know I had apple juice during labor.... I was so sure that the midwives gave it to me. maybe not.

I had my baby there in April.

I didn't get lanolin...they did give me the enfamil and similac bags which had samples of different stuff but that was when I was leaving.

No juice during labor...I was only able to have ice chips. I did end up having to have a c-section, but no juice was given to me in the labor room prior when they thought I would deliver vaginally.

I recall getting little ugly brown socks with those "you won't slip" brown gummy things on the bottom

and tucks pads (for your bum)

I recall getting a lot of free stuff and goodies... lots of little shirt things for the baby, and lots of blankets...hats. (all generic stuff)

i recall ice chips...and maybe apple juice..sounds familiar.

honestly, im sure if you ask for anything, they will provide it. If not, you can always have a family member shoot over to Target, kwim?

My socks were mint green

I did get the tucks pads also

and they gave me all the diapers in his basinnet plus a whole bag of bags of diapers, plus all the shirts. They said not to take the blankets but some of them made their way home with me

yes! i remember diapers, too!!!! .....were we not supposed to take those blankets?....I had no idea

I have about 8 of them!!

My nurse in the postpartum unit asked if I was bfing and then gave me the sample of lanolin.

During labor, I wore flip flops when I was out of bed. I kept them right next to the bed. Same with postpartum. I was barefoot during the actual pushing. That was in July though and I hate wearing socks in the Summer.

I was allowed clear liquids only by the midwives so I probably could've had juice if I wanted. I got too busy too fast to even think about anything but ice chips. During the tour, they suggested bringing granola bars and fruit for labor but I think they restricted me to liquids only because I was getting pitocin and I was going to deliver fairly soon since it was my 2nd.

I don't think I had anything but ice chips & water during labor ... I could care less ... just was concentrating on getting baby out!

I did get some samples of lanolin since I was bf'ing. They gave other stuff like tucks, diapers, A&D for the baby, and gauze (if there is a circumsicion)

I didn't get to take home any blankets, I had one in the carseat when taking baby home and I got yelled at (they do a check before you leave) they removed the blanket off the baby. Oh well, I didn't know. I think I could keep the onsie though that was ok.

i delivered in june of 09 and july of 10 and they didnt allow any juice, just ice chips. after the baby is born they gave me juice and crackers, so if you want something for after the baby is born i would pack something.

they give you the socks with the no skid feet, they did give the lanolin cream, tucks pads, etc. And anything else you were missing or needed they have at the nurses station or can get for you, you just have to ask.

i was definitely barefoot during labor - i remember the Dr asking about my foot tat. It was july and after 17 hrs of labor, i was sweating.
