Anyone do a kids party at a park
I was thinking of celebrating Sophia's first birthday at eisenhower park in June, does anyone have any experience with this, like how to book, do they have areas with some kind of shelter so she wont have to be in the sun....Thank you

Bumping because I know a few moms did look into this for their child's birthday parties & for an LIF gathering at one point.
Doesn't anyone have feedback??

Re: Anyone do a kids party at a park
We had DS' first birthday at Wantagh Park, it was in the end of July. They have one covered area, I don't believe Eisenhower does. But we didn't use it, we were able to get a giant tent instead. If you just call the park office they will tell you everything. We had to use certain vendors at Wantagh Park. Not sure if Eisenhower is like that. It was a great 1st birthday party. We had the ice cream man come and we had water balloons and play dough tables and such, but we also had kids of all ages attending. If I can help with any questions feel free to FM me.

Re: Anyone do a kids party at a park
We have had a lot of "park " parties, but ours were in Town Of Islip, so I contacted the town. We also did another one in Massapequa Park, and booked it throught the town.
What is the Town that Eisenhower park is in..I don't mean East Meadow, but is it the town of Hempstead??
Just call that township, ask who handles booking in the picnic areas. You will pay a fee- usually $50 and if you get the date that you want, you will get a permit to bring with you on the party day.
I would suggest planning your party for a Saturday, and also book that Sunday for a rain date.
Also, book early. When we tried to book a day in July last year, it was already taken on January 5th!
Good Luck! Have fun!

Re: Anyone do a kids party at a park
we had our Sophia's bday party at the holtsville ecology center it turned out great and was cheap to reserve
we had to call town of brookhaven parks department and get a permit $75 for 6 hours. we brought our own BBQ (charcoal only they dont allow propane) it was great the kids went to see the animals and they had the playground there is a gazebo and a pavilion there to keep you out of the sun...I had seen other parks as well most have some sort of accomodations for parties

No I haven't. But I love parties in the park. Eisenhower is a Nassau County park. You can reserve areas.
Hempstead Lake and Belmont Lake both have reserved areas with coverings, if that helps. So does Cedar Creek.
Good luck - she is just beautiful!

Re: Anyone do a kids party at a park
I looked into it... their website has information. they do have 1 sheltered area I believe. I attended a park birthday party at the Bay park in east rockaway - it was perfect!
