I am. I don't understand whats so great about cars driving in a circle. Lucky I had some work to finish up, so I came in for a few hours. I'm hoping nascar will be over and dinner will be ready by the time I get home.

I did laundry and went to get the pizza, so DH never had to leave the TV screen. He's so pi$$ed off right now, too and won't stop talking about the end of the race.

Re: Anyone else a NASCAR widow today?
Not only does he watch this cr@p all the time, but, he races at Riverhead, as well. So, from now until November I get to see and hear about this garbage non stop. Oh, and let's not forget, the weekend in New Hampshire in October. I've been waiting 14 years for him to get past this and I've officially stopped waiting. So, now, when he wants to go play "speed racer", I'll be doing my own thing. I don't understand the attraction and never will. Makes you want to go

My problem is - with the little one, I can't watch alot of the race, so I missed the end
I am going to watch it during the week on the replay

If you watch Speed channel the day before, of & after the race you can pick up a lot.... but here's a quick rundown:
Yellow flag means there is a caution. They slow the race down with a pace car for a certain number of laps. This is when it is ideal for most of the drivers to "pit" their car (gas them up, change tires & make any needed adjustments.) The pace of the race is so slow at this point that a driver can actually gain spots by taking a pit stop.
Green flag is full-speed racing
Red flag is if the caution is so dangerous that they need to stop the race & line the cars up in the order they were running at the time of the incident
White flag means final lap of the racr Checkered flag is dropped once the winner crosses the finish line.
Black flag means there is a penalty on a driver.
The purpose is, of course to win. Also, there are points awarded for various things: points for each lap that you are the leader, points for finishing in the top 5, top 10, and points for leading the most laps. Each race will accumulate more points for the driver, provided they finish. The drivers and crews work hard to try and engineer their car to perform better than their competitors, while still working within the NASCAR guidelines.
Since the NASCAR announcers like to talk so much & try to look all knowledgeable, if you watch it a few times & really listen to the pre & post race commentary you can pick it up pretty quickly
