Anyone else after they came home from given birth stlll feel kinda numb?
I had an epi which they took an hour to put in. They couldnt get the curviture of my spine. I have a nasty bruise on my back. I gave birth vaginally.
I had to wait to remove my epi line well after I gave birth since my platelet count was low. When they removed it, it bled and they had to put a pressure gause on it. They kept checking me and said it was fine...but of course I was nervous especially when they give you the speech of numbness in your legs afterwards and internal bleeding!
The hopsital keeps saying I was fine and my dr.
Now I am home and my butt feel like I have been sitting in the bleachers at baseball game. Even when I take a shower and the water hits my butt (well upper part of my butt more like tail bone) I still feel like I was sitting for a long time
Now when I was in the hospital bed my butt was numb from sitting for so long. So uncorfortable. But Now when I sit I have that feeling all the time. Is this a side effect of the epi? It has been 4 days now....I am just scared it is nerve damage. I want to call my dr. but I fig I would ask if anyone esle experienced this...
With DS#1 I didnt have this at all.
Now at night I sleep on my side 1) my back hurts and too I wanna give my butt a rest. Like I said during the day I am sitting on a pillow and have this feeling
Maybe I am just panicking since they had a few complications in the hospital....like if the epi was fine or they didnt say anything to me would I have this panick feeling.....
WOW sorry so long have a lot on my mind!!
Thanks for any thoughts stories or advice.

Yes.
It took a long time for my lower back to feel normal again. Even now, it still feels stiff if I sit for awhile (not even long) and that never happened to me before.
Yoga and stretching helps greatly, but I would be lying if I said it went away completely for me.
My back has never been the same.

ugh...but thnk you for responding....I am having panick attacks and crying like crazy (that i know hormones arent helping)
It just feels like bleacher butt if I can describe it any other way.....
Thank you for this response you def put me a lil more at ease that I am normal!
Scary stuff.....I keep thinking if I have another kid I might skip the epidural and just deal....

Re: Anyone else after they came home from given birth stlll feel kinda numb?
I absolutely know the feeling you describe. It hurts, but it's a weird kind of hurt and it's stiff feeling?
I remember in the hospital that I started yelling that they paralyzed me. My back felt so f*cked up. I met the with head of the anes. dept to assure me that what I felt was normal. So embarrassing, but of course you worry, because it's your back. It's kind of important!
I always wondered, too..that when your body goes from pregnant to not pregnant suddenly, it may throw off the lower back and hips? For months you carried all this weight in the front and your lower back compensated for it, and all of a sudden, the baby is out. I wonder if it throws things off. I'm not a doctor, but it sort of made some sense to me.
Once you feel like you can, I'd try to loosen it up a bit. Stretching, yoga, even a massage. Maybe even do some workouts to strengthen your lower back (when you are up to it, of course.)
I had (and still have) my DH rub my lower back when it gets stiff.
Feel better.
