Re: Anyone else follow the Baby Kaleb story?

For those who haven't seen it, please check it out. BEWARE: YOU WILL CRY!!!
Here is the Moms site: Baby Kaleb
Here is the montage someone made:
Montage
This is an excerpt from today's update. This breaks my heart:
I want to hold him so bad but because of the pressure issue they think that it is better we don't until Neurosurgery figures out what they are going to do =(. My heart is so lonely. I miss my little boy so much. I just want to see him smile at me. Today Kaleb is 7 months old. I miss waking up on Saturday AM and putting Kaleb in bed with Josh and me. Kaleb LOVED this. I know Josh misses taking Kaleb on jogs with him and taking him down to the pool. I miss feeding him baby food in his bumpo seat and him spitting it everywhere. He used to think this was funny. I am going to put up a video of him in his bumpo chair. He is SOO HAPPY in it. Kaleb was always happy. He was NOT a fussy child. He was and still is PERFECT.
Yes - this is what got me!!!
The picture with him with all those tubes and wires is devastating....

Re: Anyone else follow the Baby Kaleb story?
I read a lot about it a few weeks ago but I have not checked back. My thought at the time was the babysitter might get away with it because it will be hard to prove who did it b/c the baby was in a few people's hands that day (baby's grandma and aunt picked up baby from sitter, then baby's mom picked up baby at her mom's house and realized something was terribly wrong). I believe that the babysitter did it but she may have an out. SO SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is that latest, medically, on the baby?

I had to give up following the story. I can't stomach it. Motherhood has made me way sensitive. Things use to be sad to me, now things make me physically ill.
This is how i feel. Befor I became a mommy, I would have just thought it was sad. Now, it makes me sick. I feel so bad not only for the boy, but the parents.
I think it is very important what the parents are doing. Some people don't agree with them posting the pics and blogs, but I think it is a GREAT thing! They need to get the story out there so people can see what really happens. People need to be more educated about this.

I definitely see this as a PSA for SBS, and think this will go down in history as a famous case regarding the syndrome and the importance of never shaking a baby...

That poor little baby. I can;t even imagine what that family must be going through and all because of someone's stupidity. How did that person ever get a license to watch children.

Re: Anyone else follow the Baby Kaleb story?
I have been following the story for a few weeks now. When I first saw it I got exactly how Janice said, ill. It breaks my heart every time I look at his page but I feel like I don't I'm ignoring him. Anyways he has improved a little bit and I know they say that he will be in a vegatative state but I just pray for a miracle. There are a couple of people one in particular that had a little boy that was a few weeks old when her husband kept shaking him and he had shaken baby syndrome. The baby came through he is pretty healthy now and just wears glasses because he eyesight isn't the best but I just think about that beautiful little boy Blake and it gives me hope for Kaleb. Some one also said that if you mix up kaleb he spells blake call me cheesy but it gives me hope that Kaleb will pull through this and be a miracle baby.

This has totally broken my heart, I just watched the montage - and I shouldn't have, I am at work at my desk in tears.
I read about this a while ago and was wondering if there were any updates. I will continue to pray for him and his family......
I can't believe how much strength they have, its really moving.

Re: Anyone else follow the Baby Kaleb story?
Being a Mom, this really takes it to a different level. I can not imagine losing my baby to someone so heartless no matter who it was. Even when I play with Leah and make her dance or something, I am so terribly afraid of the slightest effects of something like that. I know I am overreacting, but

There is a link on Kaleb's mommy's page- a Fox news clip about Kaleb and the myspace page, and a woman who is president of a Shaken Baby Syndrome Association (her grandaughter had SBS I think from her mom or dad) said that this does not happen from playing with your child at all - tossing him around, doing regular playful stuff - it is a very forceful, violent shake where the head goes around significantly.... It made me feel better about playing with Cailen - especially when DH runs around with him...

Re: Anyone else follow the Baby Kaleb story?
I hadn't heard about this story. I feel sick. That poor baby and hsi parents. I think if this happened to Matty I would want to die from grief. I will pray for his complete recovery. How can she be on bail? How could someone do this to a little baby boy? I want to cry in my office.
OMG- how utterly horrible.

Liza is right. The baby has to be shaken VERY forcefully for this to happen. It does not happen from play, jumparoos, exersaucers, etc.
