Anyone else given a due date a few days SHY of their 40-week mark from the date of the LMP
if so, did you go closer to the DD your doc gave or the "real" 40 week mark.
according to the 40 weeks dating system, my dd should be Friday 10/16, but my doc gave me 10/13 at my first appt. at my growth sono, they said growth was consistent with 10/16, but doc didn't change it.
I am slightly concerned b/c I don't want them to induce me prematurely and also, I don't want to label my child "LATE" when technically, it's not.
anyway, I was just curious. TIA

I think there is often a range of a due date than a single date. Usually the doc either goes by your LMP, or the first sono, and then sticks with that unless there is a huge, consistent change. My friend who had a baby last Dec kept having her due date changed. It was originally 12/17, then they changed it to 12/14, and then close to the end, it varied anywhere from 12/14 to 12/19. She gave birth in between. I don't think many docs will force you to be induced before 2 weeks after your due date, unless there are other complications. My mom was 10 days late with me, and she ended up with a fairly quick labor and easy delivery, no pain meds. And I was only 6lbs 15 oz even though I was late. baby will come when ready

I would think that the 10/16 date would be the one they use since it does go hand in hand with your sono and your LMP.

I agree.
And I wouldn't really "worry" about it. A lot of doctors aren't inducing until between 10-14 days late now

Re: Anyone else given a due date a few days SHY of their 40-week mark from the date of the LMP
With my DD, by LMP my due date was 7/27. By sono & adjusting for longer cycles (not exact becasue we weren't trying), it landed around 8/2. DD was born 8/3.
With my DS, by LMP my due date was 3/31/ Based on when I believe I ovulated, I should've been due 4/2 or 4/3. The sono dated me as due 3/29. They wanted to change my due date to 3/29, but I refused because I knew I didn't concieve that early. We left it as 3/31. DS was born 4/9.

My original DD was 10/31, based on my LMP. It got moved up to 10/28 after a bunch of sonos.
I'm pretty sure I believe the 10/28, because my body's getting ready for labor. I actually wouldn't stress the date at all, they could be off 2 weeks in either direction.

Re: Anyone else given a due date a few days SHY of their 40-week mark from the date of the LMP
With both babies my OB gave me the later LMP date. Both times, on the initial sono (which they say is the most accurate) the baby measured early. Last time, I kept the original date as is and did deliver early. this time, i brought it up to my OB and we moved the date up. A good friend of mine went one week past her due date and then was induced - the baby was born with meconium in its lungs and had to be intubated (sp?) luckily the baby was fine but, it might not have turned out like that - it was b/c they waited too long - that is why they induce you to protect the baby - it doesn't always happen but sometimes it does - I used to think I wanted to go as long as possible but, after that experience I didn't want to wait too long which is why I had my OB move my due date up this time. Just wanted to share b/c this is something to consider. And, trust, me I am all for natural childbirth (had DS with nothing no epi or anything) but, sometimes it is better to go early...hth!

I had really short cycles. First time around I was given an initial DD of 1/24. When they did the 1st sono they gave me a due date of 1/19.
I delivered on 1/24 via scheduled c-section.

thanks everyone.
I guess there isn't really much of a reason to shave a few days off the due date if all things point to a later one, except dr's perogative...which is fine.
the baby will come when it's ready. which is good...b/c I don't think I'll ever be

Re: Anyone else given a due date a few days SHY of their 40-week mark from the date of the LMP
My doctor's gave me a due date of 10/09 based on my LMP, but after 8 months TTCing with the CBEFM - I KNOW when I ovulated & conceived - which made my due date yesterday - 10/12.
The doctor's continued to go by the LMP date even though the baby measured exactly to "my" due date in all sonos.
Because of my GD they won't allow me to go a week past my due date. I was able to push the induction to Sunday/Monday vs Thursday/Friday. He's still scoring a 10 out of 10 on the BPPs, my sugar & BP are fine, so I see no reason to rush.
