anyone else has an 18m old that only drinks milk in a bottle and not in a cup?
ok...my daughter is going to be 18 months and i feel like shes the only kid out of all the kids we know, thats still on a bottle. Bella only associates milk in a bottle and not a sippy. she drinks water or juice in a sippy but when she tastes the milik she spits it all over herself! i still offer her milk in a cup...once in a while she would take a sip and not realize its milk until shes finished sipping ...she ends up handing me the cup. she was underweight at her last well visit and not eating good at all...so i felt like one milk bottle a day in the AM isnt a bad thing...but is it? i hate milk..and my mom told me once i stopped the bottle i stopped drinking milk..so i have that in the back of my mind that Bella is going to do the same thing. what is everyone else doing? should i stop the bottle?

When I give my girls mikl in the sippy cup they don't really drink it. They take a few sips & then walk away. But, when I give it to them in their bottles they suck it down. (My girls are 17 months)

Mine won't drink the milk from the cups either. If its juice or water they drink it right down, but not milk. Now, they only get their milk bottles before naps and bed.

Talia wont either. I have tried everything. This week I stopped giving her the morning bottle - she eats more to make up for it. I still give her the night time bottle though just to make sure she is getting enough dairy (she is also low on the weight charts).
I offer her a cup of milk every morning though - hoping one day she will start drinking it.

How about trying to get her to drink it out of a regular cup instead of a sippy? If you give it to her at the table with her meals, you can sit there and help her learn to drink it. Or maybe even try those Take'n Toss cups with the lid and the straw?

thanks for the cup idea...i just went to the store and bought small bathroom size dixie cups (with mickey on them) because i know Bella can handle using small cups...what a great idea! i plan to use them tonight with dinner...i dont mind filling them a thousand times if it means she will drink milk out of them!!thanks to everyone who made me feel like im not the only mom going through this and it seems like there are more kids then i thought who only drinks milk from a bottle!

Mine still drinks milk only from the bottle. He drinks lots of water throughout the day in his sippy but won't take milk in it (AND won't take water in his bottle!). I've tried putting milk in a regular cup (he LOVES drinking from a regular cup) and he refused to drink it. We go for his 18 mo appt today and I'm sure I'll get yelled at by the Dr b/c he really loves his bottle soooooo much so I don't plan to force him off it. If he is being crazy or cranky, I give him the bottle and he is a whole new kid

Sydney doesnt drink as much milk out of the cup like she did when she was on the bottle. Every doctor is different, mine said not to worry about how much milk she is taking since she eats a lot of food - she is in the 75th for weight.

ok i couldnt wait until dinner...i tried out using the small dixie cups and she drank 2 cups (half full) all by herself! all i did was tell her drink "slow" and i helped bring the cup to her mouth! i am so happy about this...i plan to now do this during lunch and dinner. my dr also said it was no big deal about the milk but i feel like she needs it being that she is underweight.
