Anyone else have a 1 1/2 year-old who won't eat?
DH and I are at our wits end! DS will only eat mac & cheese, chicken nuggets, fries, jelly sandwiches, pasta with butter, Graduates ravioli's, hot dogs, grilled cheese, white rice and corn. He also eats bagels, english muffins, waffles, french toast and pancakes. He loves fruit but we can't get any veggie other than corn in him. We've tried eggs, cold cuts, steak, grilled cicken, most vegetables amongst many other things. It doesn't stay in his mouth long enough for him to really taste it. I'm so worried that he will develop poor eating habits.
Anyone empathize or have advice??

It sounds normal to me. I don't he will develop poor eating habits from his menu now. Little by little they become more willing to try. DD is 14 months old and she likes to taste everything but she doesn't always chew and swallow them.
Easier said than done, but I wouldn't stress. I know that I didn't have a large menu of foods that I ate as a child but now I am more willing to try different things.

my son is 20 months and is the exact same way and what he eats this week he wont touch next week! Very frustrating and I feel bad always giving him the same few foods, but its that or he wont eat at all. HELP!!!!
DS eats just about any kind of fruit and he eats green beans and corn. Pasta with tomato sauce, pizza, Fried (or baked) breaded chicken or talapia. Pancakes, chex, raisin bran crunch, scrambled eggs - must have ketchup, PBJ or PB and CC sanwiches, american cheese and thats about it......

Bryan is 15 months. Loves the bagels, waffles, pancakes, cereal (cheerios, rice krispies), yogurt, maybe, sneak a piece of chicken, grilled cheese. Veggies..once in a blue moon. He will eat fruit cut up. Chicken/meats are a nightmare. Had our Dr. appt. yesterday. Dr. suggested keep offering it. If the only way he will eat meat is the stage 3 jars still, then, it's OK. Dr. wants the protein in him. So, I'll cook and if he 100% refuses it, I'll offer him the jar. ( I really don't want to, but, the ped. gave the OK..I'm not going to be totally dependent on it though..I want DS on table food)..
It is hard. I do stress too.

We have major eating issues over here. DD used to love fruit now the only way to get it in is by feeding her baby food fruit. The only things she will eat for sure are crackers, toast, cheese and yogurt. Everything else is hit or miss. She is a peanut too. She only weighs about 21 lbs at 18 months. Oh yeah and forget feeding herself....if you don't trick it into her mouth you are pretty much done. She's just not interested in food.

DS is 21 months old and still has major eating problems. DS still eats the same foods he has been eating for atleast 6 months. He wont physically open his mouth to try anything new. He eats only the following:
Breakfast: bagel, oatmeal, toast, waffles, pancakes or french toast.
Lunch: Grilled cheese, Mac n cheese, PB & J, PB & fluff, or pastina
Dinner: Grilled cheese, Chicken Nuggets, Fish sticks, Spaghetti with butter, French fries.
That is it. Veggi's.... No chance. I can get baby food vegi's in him maybe 1 -2 times per week. That is it.
When he feeds himself it takes FOREVER. Sometimes I also have to feed him myself. If he is too distracted he will just sit there and not eat. If he is not distracted enough he also wont eat because he will just wine about getting out of his booster chair. Ya just can't win. I keep waiting for him to allow me to try something new as well.

mY DS will NOT allow me to feed him. He is good with a spoon, but refuses to eat with a fork so then he uses his hands.
SOunds to me like this is an on going problem that most parents deal with at somepoint. I just can't wait to be out of this stage as far as eating habits go.

DS is almost 17 months and hardly eats a thing lately. I don't know if its his age or just a phase. Just to get him to eat, I took both boys to Mc Donald's because in the past, DS ate everything there. But last night, nothing. Then today, I tried pizza-another food he always eats...no luck. Yogurt is something he always takes too-not today or yesterday. It is so frustrating!

Re: Anyone else have a 1 1/2 year-old who won't eat?
I have a 2 year old grazer. Today he ate some cheese, half an egg roll, and some rice cakes, washed down with LOTS of Pop-pop juice (seltzer with apple juice and a (fake) splash of pepsi)
I figure he isn't dead, so he must be doing okay! I let him eat what he wants and I refuse to stress about it. Kids are like dogs, they smell stress. So I relax about the whole issue.
