Can a 1 year old eat Salmon?

I'm not a fish eater and I wanted to introduce it to DD. I know there are certain fishes that a young child should not eat, but I have no idea what they are or why.

I have always given my children fish...I would start with a mild white fish before Salmon though. Salmon is very distinct in flavor..Not like bluefish (which I would definitely not give to a child-very fishy) But it has its own flavor. I would try maybe Tilapia or Catfish or Basa Fillet....But I see nothing wrong in giving a child Salmon. Fish concerns all result from them containing mercury. I would do a search on high mercury level containing fish and take it from there...

I make my kids Fish Nuggets all the time..I buy fresh firm fish (Catfish works well or Basa Fillet) and just bread them like I would Chicken Cutlets. The kids love it.

salmon, flounder, sea bass, etc.
i would let her try it, why not?

I think that you are just supposed to stay away from the fishes that are high in mercury - swordfish, etc. (the same ones you couldn't have while pregnant) and my ped. said she shouldn't have tuna more than once a week.

Julia loves fish, I have been making Talapia for her since she was 11 months old, and she would go crazy for it--lol Very healthy for them too!
