Anyone else have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?
About 2 weeks ago my dr told me its normal to get it, and it will go away after the baby is born. The past 3 nights I have not been able to sleep because it has been so bad. It wakes me up at least 4-5 times a night, and I cant get the tingles to go away, sometimes for hours...anything I can do?

Re: Anyone else have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?
I don't have carpal tunnel, but what I do have is very stiff, painful hands. I can barely make a fist without it hurting and on some days I can't even do that.
My doc said it would go away about 2 weeks after delivery!
I was just told to flex and stretch my hand when I got up in the morning and when it got bad.

Thats my new thing, that happened to me on Sunday, I thought it was my hands swelling, I cant make a tight fist.
I am the poster child for pregnancy, any symptom even remotely associated with pregnancy, I have.

Re: Anyone else have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?
I had it with my daughter and it was awful. My doc told me to get a brace for my hand and wear it as much as possible. It truly did help. He's right within 3 days of having my daughter the pain was gone. Though my handwriting never really recovered

I do. It's terrible.
I notice that in the middle of the night, I catch myself sleeping with my arms over my head. When I do, that's when my arms hurt the worst. so I have to bring them down and shake them out.
Feel better.

Yes! It is awful, I wake up at night sometimes because it hurts so bad.....the doctor said to get braces and sleep with them on. I am going to try that.

Re: Anyone else have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?
I had it when I was pregnant with my son. It was awful but I got the wrist/hand whatevertheyarecalled and they helped a bit...not completely. I would constantly have to shake my hands. I noticed that I got some relief in when they were cold but only so much.
The good news is that after giving birth they felt better and 3 months pp it was gone - for me.
Hang in there...and get your DH to help lift, open, move anything so you don't have to. It got to the point that I couldn't even open a jar

I have had the same thing since the beginning of the second trimester. I wish I could give you some good advice. The best thing I can recommend is try to sleep without putting your hands or arms underneath your head.

Ice, stretching and acupuncture work.

Re: Anyone else have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?
here... started around 33 weeks. I am very swollen and all of my joints ache, especially my knuckles. I can't make a fist anymore. I have tingling in my legs and feet. I really can't complain though. i had no bad pregnancy symptoms until this - no morning sicknes either.

Re: Anyone else have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?
I had it. It was so painful I woke up multiple times a night. I would soak my hand in epsom salts and wear a brace. A week before DD was born, I got a bad stomach virus and all of the fluid loss caused my hands to go back to normal. My midwives said it was caused by fluiid retention.

Re: Anyone else have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?
I had it with Hayley and I am starting to get it again. I wear wrist braces at night and that helps.

Re: Anyone else have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?
i got this 3 weeks ago, I went to the Dr. yesterday and she told me it is CTS... It is painful at times and I have been trying to keep off the computer. Also when I hold my phone it hurts or pick up things. I am going to get a night brace to reduce some pain. I never knew you could get this during pregnancy. OUCH!

What are the symptoms? I've been getting occasional tingling in my finger tips on and off. Nothing terrible, just weird...

Re: Anyone else have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel?
I don't. But, my tendinitis in my wrist flares up much more frequently since I got pg. Doc says its normal because of all the hormone changes.
Stinks!

I had it when I was pregnant with DS. Towards the end I would wake up every night and my hands and forearms would be "asleep".
