Re: Anyone else reading Gone Girl???
I hated the ending.
I enjoyed the book until the fast wrap up and questions just un-answered IMO.

Re: Anyone else reading Gone Girl???
Friends of mine said they read it within a few days - quick read . For me it did not start getting interesting until I was halfway thru

Totally agree. The ending made no sense to me.

Re: Anyone else reading Gone Girl???
It felt like the author started one way with the story and changed her mind midway. Even though she changed her mind she really wanted this new direction but just could not tie it up-like a struggle
like she just wanted to finish it up-done

Re: Anyone else reading Gone Girl???
I read it and was not impressed by it at all. I had already read her other two books prior to reading Gone Girl and they were fantastic, but this one was a complete let-down.

Re: Anyone else reading Gone Girl???
I really enjoyed the book. The author has a knack for leading your emotions and keeping you guessing. I switched sides about 5 times in that book before the real answer was revealed. That being said, I was very disappointed in the ending. I don't want to say too much since many on the thread haven;t finished, but I wanted something more. But I guess it's a pretty good ending if it can have this many people this thoroughly pissed off.
I just recently read another of her books, Dark Places. I liked that one just a bit better. It's another book that keeps you guessing, but I found the ending to be a bit more satisfying than Gone Girl. Enjoy it though, it's a good read!

I'm not gonna lie, I did, too. As they were leading us in that direction, I kept flipping through that last pages thinking "This isn't nearly enough to wrap everything up!"

The ending is borderline "soprano's" style...hanging! I will try her other books because i did like her writing style and how she delved into the male/female psyche in terms of relationships

Haha, I totally get ya! I haven't read Sharp Objects, but there is a DEFINITE ending in Dark Places, all is revealed. So you definitely won't be disappointed.

Re: Anyone else reading Gone Girl???
Ita about Dark Places. It was well written and the ending wrapped everything up. It was sad, but at least you know what happens.
Gone Girl just pissed me off. She just bugged me and there is literally no ending to the book.
Sharp Objects was good, too. Messed up and crazy, but again, there is an ending to it

ITA!
I felt that in Gone Girl, none of the characters are really likeable at all and just pissed me off as the story went on.

Re: Anyone else reading Gone Girl???
I started it, got maybe halfway through, and I just couldn't get into it. I thought it was kind of boring. I was disappointed since I heard good things about it but I really didn't care for it.

Re: Anyone else reading Gone Girl???
This thread cracks me up because the reason I read Gone Girl is that I felt like I read such good things about it on here. And it seems like almost everyone actually hated it.

Anyone else reading Gone Girl???
The ending of Gone Girl def sucked. I'm reading Dark Places right now and just finished Sharp Objects. The only thing is I can't read at night anymore because I keep having bad dreams! How lame is that? lol
