anyone elses 1 month old....
only nap for like a half hour/ 45 minutes....he's killin me!! I tried swaddling and putting him in his crib this last time and he did good in his crib for the first time but still only napped for like 45 minutes and yet when I take him out (since he's crying) he still is def. sleepy......
helpppppppppppppppppppp!!!! Mommy would love a 2 hour naptime!!
(I'm trying to follow babywise)

hey devon (i dont know if i got to tell you but CONGRATS!!!!! your son is beautiful!  )
2nd.. abbys 5.5months old and still doesnt take 2 hours naps... is mostly only 20-30min cat naps... some days well get lucky like today and she will take a full hour nap once or twice!! when she was amonth old it started. after she grew out of the REALLY sleepy baby stage!

DS is also 5.5 months and never took a 2 hour nap.  If you find the secret, please let us know! He's also only done an hour once or twice.

i never was able to get more then 30 minutes with ds until he was 8 or 9 months old... even then it was mostly 45 minutes... by 10 months he switched and naps two 2 hour naps a day....
i found that if he slept long stretches at night he could be up all day and i would be fine with it

My son started taking long naps around the same age. DS used to take 20-30 minutes naps before then!!! However before 1 month he would take 2 hour naps, so going from 2 hours to 20 minutes = very tired mommy! GL!

DD is 6 wks today and takes long naps during the day.
The swing we recently got her has helped A LOT. It's the FP Zen swing (similar to the lamb swing).
I usually feed her, burp & play with her, then rock her to sleep. Once I get her on the swing, she is usually out for at least an hour - sometimes 3-4 hours!

DS is 7 weeks and this is a problem. Saturday he gave us a 2 1/2 hour nap. that was the first time in 2 weeks i think that he napped like that. Every day this week has been a mess. It takes me forever to get him down for a nap and 20-30 min later he's up again and i start all over.
Im relieved to know its not only me. I thought by now DS would be on a better napping schdule, but he's not. I started swaddling him again and it seems to help..but his naps are still not long.
although at nite though after his 8-9pm feeding, he's been sleeping a good 5-6 hour stretch..so im thankful for that.

Logan didn't for his first few weeks home and it took us that long to figure out why - he hated the swaddle! He'd wake up and fight to get out of it, then yawn and yawn and yawn like he was still so tired.
Tossed the swaddle blankets and he's been a sleeping/napping pro ever since. He takes 2-3hr naps everyday.

this is me exactly. He is sleeping 5 hour stretches at night...usually the "first sleep" 10:00-3 then he'll go 3/4 hours after then it's 20/30 minutes during the day...he's not screaming at me but I know he's tired, I watch him fight going out. I just started the swaddle during the day & he did nap twice for an hour. I'm just trying to figure out how babywise parents are successful lol

I followed the babywise book when it came to an eating schedule. It never worked for sleeping for me.

honestly dev - at this point - put him wherever he will sleep. if he'll give you 2 hours in the swing - USE THE SWING....same thing for the bouncy seat. we did this & we are now lucky - emmy will sleep pretty much ANYWHERE.... you NEED sleep now - desperately...and he's too young to form any bad habits yet!!!!

She only takes naps for that long if I'm holding her, laying next to her, or wearing her in the sling.

My DD was a terrible napper for months. She always STTN but naps..........never! She didn't really start taking good, solid, long naps until she was about 6 months old. But every baby is different, maybe you will get lucky!

my DS is will be 3 months on the 22nd and he takes about a 2 hour nap only in the morning in the swing. he hated being swaddled when i first brought him home. it was trial and error to figure out where he would sleep for me. since he sleeps 8-9 hours for me now at night i use his nap time to get my stuff done.
