Anyone else's child ever swallow a foreign object? How long did it take to pass?
So, my daughter swallowed a diamond stud earring on Wed morning. Had to go to the emergency room cause by wed night/thurs early am she was vomiting. turned out to be a coicidence...she caught a stomach virus the same day she swallowed the earring...BUT...the surgeons at Stony Brook all said it was in 1 of 2 places it could get "stuck" once passing through the stomach.
A week later....she had another xray...and it still hasn't moved and its still in that tricky spot. My pediatrician said she is not "too" concerned but was calling the surgeon at Stony Brook to update him and then she would call me back....
I am starting to really fear the worst (surgery) and need to hear that she will pass this earring and it could take more than a week.
I am really starting to panic. Anyone else's child ever swallow something strange???

No experience, but I wanted to say that I hope the earring passes soon and there's no surgery necessary.

Thank you....she's not even a yr old and for her to need surgery is so upsetting....

OMG, I hope that she is okay and she passes it no problems!
She has good taste though to eat a diamond! This story will be told for years to come I feel...

Yes, I am saving the xray for her wedding slide show...lol

Nothing yet.....the Pediatrician hasn't called back yet with an update from the surgeon. Guess she doesn't think there's urgency there.....

Yes, John swalled a 2 inch metal dowel in February. I took him to the ER and xrays showed it was already in his intestine. I feed him pears and apples and anything else fiberous and it passed within 2 days without a problem

DD has earrings and i always wondered if she was eat it if it fell out...
