Anyone else's dog not eat their food
My dog is five and she has been this way since a baby but sometimes it makes me nervous. She probably only finishes her food every 3 days. The other days she will have a couple of bites and that's it! I'm constantly throwing out her food. Sometimes I hand feed her and she eats it. She is on a special food so I can't even try changing it. She's healthy and at a healthy weight. Anyone else's dog like this?

Re: Anyone else's dog not eat their food
My dogs are like this. They hate their food. My female might only eat a few kibbles a day. She is the same weight all the time for years, she maintains it so I assume she is getting enough.

mine does that all the time. Her grandma swears that we dont feed her because when we go to Nanny's house she refuses to eat her kibble.
She will eat her food but if she goes about 3 days without eating it DH will crush up a saltine cracker and mix it with her food and she gobbles it down. I think shes just a spoiled baby

Re: Anyone else's dog not eat their food
My sister's dog does this...but she is also a healthy weight. It's so strange. She eats a couple of bites them walks away...whereas my dog eats her in 30 seconds and then ask for more.

Re: Anyone else's dog not eat their food
My dogs are the same way. I give them tablescraps though, too. As long as they don't turn their noses up at people food, I pretty much assume they are okay. Besides, like you said, they've always been this way. They actually kinda get fed like cats since there's almost always food in their bowls.
ETA: Sometimes I've gotten so worried that I've sat on the floor and told my dog to eat. It's so funny because I tell him "eat!" and point to his bowl and sometimes he'll just give up and eat, sometimes he'll eat a kibble or two and stop, but other times when he's being really stubborn he'll just put his nose in the kibble and wait until I walk away, like a little kid! It's hysterical!

We give our dogs cheerios, if they need to eat, about a handful and then they usually will eat their food. Must stimulate their appetite.
