Anyone ever been to Barbados?
I am going there in one week and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of things, places that I should see/do while I am there!

I've been there on a cruise and I loved it! We went snorkeling and did a 4x4 tour of the island. It was the best snorkeling I've ever done!
The island is so beautiful, you'll have a great time!

We did the Tiami day-long cruise and loved it. You get to snorkel and you can swim all the way to the beach, you can also jump off the boat which was a ton of fun (and higher up than I realized). Also the Island Safari jeep tour was a lot of fun and a great way to experience the different parts of the island. And when in Barbados, you MUST eat at the Cliff! We want to go back just to eat there again (have the concierge at your hotel request a terrace side table when making your reservation)!! Have fun! We loved Barbados.

We went on our honeymoon -- and I am so jealous!! We stayed at the Coral Reef Resort, which was paradise on earth.
It is wonderful. Go to the Tropical Gardens, and Horsebackriding in Little Switzerland. Swim with the turtles. Take a tour of Mt. Gay Rum factory. Eat at The Cliff, and Calabaza. Go to the Bajan Rum party dance (I can't remember the name of it but the hotel will I am sure). Walk around the main city - it is very safe and interesting.
Oh have a great time!!!

We stayed at the Coral Reef Club too!! Absolute heaven! Though I've heard they've had some serious beach erosion and are now shuttling their guests to a nearby beach. I would not be happy about that!! When were you there? We went for our one-year anniversary—November 2005.

We were there for Sept. 2004. We got hit by hurricane Ivan, who took away a huge portion of the beach. Such a shame, because it was sooo wonderful to thave the beach and all the water sports right there. I guess it just got worse.....
I thought the staff, the accomodations, the grounds, the food...all were perfect!! And they took great care of us when there was NO electricity or transportation on the Island due to the hurricane.
I was also so impressed with the natives - so literate and friendly. I did not ever feel intimidated in the markets or in the city.
We had a Plantation Room - right above the dining room and on the water - heaven!

Wow! You were there during a hurricane and still loved the experience? That says a lot!
I don't remember what category our room was considered but it had a huge balcony overlooking the ocean and I think it must have been right over the dining room too.
Anyway, I found this pic on tripadvisor that shows how the beach is totally gone. So sad! I hope it comes back because we really want to go back to Coral Reef someday.

OMGosh that is so sad!! YEs a huge portion was taken away by Ivan but there was still a beach at least!
We were supposed to leave the day the hurrican came so we got 2 free days out of it!! And Barbados wasn't actually hit, but flights were cancelled and electric was out... we had plenty of of punch tho!!
