Anyone ever been to Best Buy in westbury (or any best buy in nassau) ON BLACK FRIDAY??

DH and I really want to go this year! Tell me your experiences. Do we have to get there hours early and stand outside? Is it impossible to get someone to help you?

I'm afraid we're going to get up early and it will be too crazy and we won't even have a chance to get what we went there for.

It really depends on what you are there to buy. If it is like a computer deal for $350 and they only have 2 of them, you might be out of luck no matter when you get there.

I've gone in Suffolk, arrived right when they opened, and was in and out within a half hour, but the items I wanted were not THAT much in demand (a good deal on a digital camera or cell phone, etc.).

Last year, my hubby and I went to Best Buy in Setaukt...at 4:30 am and there was a line about 700 people long....there was so much security there it was scary!!

the store was going to open at 5am...some of these people had been there since the night before!!

This of course was when the XBox 360 was the hot item...I dont know if it will be the same this year...unless there is a new "hot" item this year!!

i live right by there.
I went abot 3 years ago to accompany my lil bro.

we got there at 4:45am. Store opened at 5am.
Line was around the building. But once it opened, it wasnt busier than any normal holiday weekend.

we went last year to buy a digital camera that was on sale. we got there after they were already open - maybe 6:30 and it wasnt that bad.

We went to one in Suffolk. We went at 3 a.m. and the line was long and it was freezing outside. We left since we didn't need anthing major and went to some smaller stores.

I think Best Buy opened at 5 a.m. and we got there about 5:30 and were out in less than 20 minutes. The mad rush is when the door first opens, but people get in and out once they get their items.

Tips:
Wear lots of layers, some people even bring blankets.

Be prepared to wait on some long lines once inside the store.

Have water and/or a snack handy in case the line is long. (I was tired, cranky, the store was hot, and the lines were crazy - a snack was great).

Watch out for people pushing, shoving, and be prepared for absolute rudeness!

We've gone out for BF the past 4-5 years and usually catch some good deals. But we know exactly what we want when we go in the store. We pre-shop in advance. And we're usually home and filling out our rebates by 9 a.m.

Yeah - wear comfy shoes and get ready for some aggrivation. If you can take it all in stride you'll be fine.

Best Buy has already made their Black Friday Sales known so there will definitely be a crowd.

Is there anything in this world that is worth that? I mean I can't think of anything that would make me want to get there the NIGHT before.
How much are you REALLY saving???

Ang-Rich - we've already checked out the bbuy sales for BF online so we know what we want which is a good start, right?? We just have to hope there aren't 100 ppl in front of us that want the same thing.

Best Buy is normally crowded on regular days. I would not think of stepping foot anywhere near that store on Black Friday. If you do plan on the line being wrapped around the store and waiting a long time.
