Anyone ever BUY their car at tne end of a LEASE?
Is it a good idea? Worth it? Or stupid?

I did it because I had too many miles on it and some body work that was needed so I would have had to PAY to give it back.
I would suggest looking up it's Kelly Blue Book value and doing the math on whether it's worth it to keep for resale in a few years after you've finished paying off the buy out amount.

price wise it wasn't good, but it had low miles and we knew the great condition it was in.

I didn't love my leased car so I didn't. But we did entertain the option because financially it made sense. Instead we bought a certified pre owned w/ entended warrenty on a car that suited our needs..

we did. We loved the car and were planning on buying it. the best part is that a dealer forgot to tighten the nut on our oil pan after a change and we got a brand new engine at 29K miles.

I just sold the car, 10 years after I bought it after a 3 year lease, for a decent price as well.

It all depends on what your buy out is. I would have loved to buy out my last lease but the buy out was toooo high. I leased the same type of truck again and my buy out is about $4000-$5000 dollars less So I am thinking about doing it this time.

I think we are going to buy ours. The lease is up in January and I know I will go over the miles (by a lot). We also need to buy an additional car as well, so it will be cheaper for us to buy this one and a new car instead of 2 brand new cars. KWIM?

I did it.
Lease was up during the financial crisis in 2008, and I couldn't get another good deal.
Plus, I love my car and it has really low miles, is in great condition.
I probably paid more than I should have because there is no negotiation, but at least I know what I am driving.

Usually we don't but we're going to later this year when our lease on the minivan is up. It doesn't even have 15,000 miles on it.

This was us. We loved our Jeep Commander, but the buy out was too high.

We did. we had just replaced the brakes and tires, and needed a second car. With all the fees they were going to charge to turn it in, it was a better option to just buy it.
It is a good car with pretty low mileage.

Low miles, good buy out cost, great car, definitely worth it for us.

I bought out my friend's lease on a Honda Pilot. I think I would up getting a 2006 in 2007 for abour $24K. It was too good a deal to pass up.
