Anyone ever forget to give their kids lunch?
I have the biggest fear that I am going to forget to give her her lunch one day for school.
Has anyone ever done this? What does the school do? Let them go hungry?

Ive done it twice in the past 5 years of having a kid in elementary school. Both times I thought my husband packed lunch and he thought I did it. Bad communication lol.
The school lets them charge a school lunch and you pay them back the next day (unless you have a lunch account at school, in which case they just charge that.). No worries!

Our school just addressed this exact issue at orientation. They have an account that you can add money to. You can specify if it is for lunch or snack or both. If you have no money in the account they will at least give your child a cheese sandwich. You can also go on line to check what your kid is eating and how much money is left on the account. I plan on sending DS in with lunch and snack but I put $20 on the card in case he wants something or an emergency.

We are Levittown district, but they told us that every kid will get a meal. Idk, how they work it as far as money, bu no kid will go hungry.

Yes, a few times last year I forgot to put it in his bag. I have a lunch account, but most of the time I remembered before lunch and dropped it off.

I've never forgotten, but if I did, I would see if I could run it up to the school before they ate lunch. If I totally spaced, I tell my kids they are able to use their lunch card and buy from the cafeteria for that day. They have money on a card and buy lunch once in a blue moon, so at least they have that option.

At our school they let the kids try to call you. If they can't get through to you they will let them buy lunch and you have to send in the money the next day if you don't have a lunch account set up.

Same here. They can charge normal school lunch up to 5 times.. after that they will be given a PBJ, milk and fruit until the balance is paid off. They will never be asked to go hungry.
Our school has Nutrikids (online prepayment) - so even though I pack them lunch most days, I do keep some money in their accounts.. just in case.

I have that fear...I triple check his backpack everyday to make sure that I put his lunch in his backpack He has an account at school where he could buy lunch so I keep reminding myself that he could buy lunch if need be and that he will always find something that he likes.

Make sure you tell your kids the school policy. I have forgotten and my daughter didn't mention it to the teacher because she was too embarrassed. Killed me that she was embarrassed over something that was my fault.

I'm surprised that the teacher, or the lunch aide didn't realize your daughter didn't have a lunch.
A couple of times over the years I sent my son with money and it got misplaced, so they let him charge and I paid it back the next day. Mine would never speak up either, but fortunately they noticed.

The lunch monitors usually do but if they're busy they don't always check with the older kids (2nd grade & up)

 We will have a lunch card and I will probably just keep it in his bag but I did think of giving him an envelope with money and maybe a note saying it's in case he needs to buy lunch.
