anyone ever have a murphy bed?
I'm thinking about this as a guest accomodation option in our small NYC apartment.
It would be in the living room so I would want it to look like some sort of builtin I guess.
Are they practicle for guests?
More or less comfortable than a pull out sofa?

Re: anyone ever have a murphy bed?
My friends parents just had one made for their condo in Myrtle Beach. I slept on it over the summer it was so comfortable. It had a full size mattress. I am not a good sleeper but slept well there. It was east to pull down and set up. When it folded up it was bookshelves in their office.

Re: anyone ever have a murphy bed?
My sister has 2 in her home. The one is built into the middle of a wall of bookshelves. The other is in what used to be a double closet. Way more comfortable than a sleep sofa. DH and I have slept on it many times.

We have one in our own home and have installed several for clients who want double use for spaces. They are fantastic, and the cabinetry can be custom designed to suit your configuration and needs.

Having lived in the city for a while, I've seen a few Murphy beds. They are great for space-saving. When tucked away, a good Murphy bed won't even be noticeable and you'll have so much more space.
