Anyone ever take an online Defensive Driving Course?
Do you really have to sit at the computer for six hours?
Just looking for some info on how it works.

I did. You take it at your convenience. I did it over a 2 week period of time. You log into the session and it picks up where you left off.
I highly recommend it!

Oh that doesn't sound bad at all! Do you take it by yourself or with others where you have to chat and interact - like an online college course?

Nope, all by yourself at 3am or at 12 noon on a Sunday.
Whenever you have time.
It's probably the number one reason I did it online. The whole classroom thing is a deterrent for me.

Just be aware that NY State doesn't recognize this yet. We wanted to do it on line as well and we checked NYS DMV and it says that they do not accept on line courses as of now. Hopefully soon they will though.

Actually, they do. Link to DMV website
Some insurance companies still do not accept them though, so check with your insurance company first.

Yes they do. Allstate accepted it I had no points so nothing had to come off my license. Allstate reduced my premiums.

FYI- All insurance companies are REQUIRED to accept the online course- if you have a problem, there is a number to report the company to the NY DMV- it became legal on May 18th.
I recommend the AAA course- its $35 for members and $38.95 for non members- I took it in May and it was easy and convenient.
