Re: Anyone excited about World Cup?
100% true. Then it died down Do you think its a sport where the mens team doesn't really excel at,so thats why the US isn't so supportive? Really no drama girls, just a discussion I've had with many friends in recent days.
I don't know to be honest. I think it's not as popular in general. My family has always been into it so to me I'm in the know about it. But soccer is the national past time for many Central American Countries and no one gives a hoot about baseball. I don't know why.

I think it's because it's not the national sport. People didn't grow up watching & loving soccer like many other countries do. I think this is a big reason as to why.
True. I went to my first pro game before I even went to school. But look at the Japaneese.. they hosted last time. If they can get into it,why not us here? I strongly doubt soccer was their nations sport
but the same argument can be made for hockey, why is hockey not so popular as other sports in the United States... it is fast paced, exciting and yet a lot of people like to watch baseball instead of hockey (no idea why? )
Because the Canadians or Russians give them a run for their money, Americans don't like coming in #2,much less #3.

it was awesome, it was the last time my team has been in a world cup.
now they literally s uck.
sadly, they work great as individual players but they leave a lot to be desired as a team.
Word, I remember when Colombia was in the running...it was crazy. Great games. I've gone to see many teams play. It's nothing like seeing it live!!!!!

ditto, the last game I went to was united arab emirates and some other team when they had the world cup here in the us.
it was weird probably being one of the only spanish people there but at least I attended a world cup game.

I'm hoping to watch and will probably support England. My boss is being brought by private jet by a firm we use in the UK to the England v. Sweden match in Cologne. I'm jealous but he deserves it
So lucky!

so true, In Colombia these players are inmediately celebrities which is sad too because they are prone to be abducted, robbed even being murdered.

Re: Anyone excited about World Cup?
I was just about to post the score - my brother has decided to stop all activity that doesn't involve WC games until July 9th.
His goodbye on the phone now is "Forza Azzuri"

They've actually voted to cut the work day in Croatia( when playing) or if you have to work, your boss has to televise the games.

This is an interesting but long article about the History of Soccer in the US.
History of Soccer in the US.
It has faded in & out of popularity at different times.
