Anyone familiar with financing a car? EDITED: SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP
Ok, so- I bought a new car almost 2 weeks ago. I did not finance the whole amount of car due to the amount that I put down. When I picked up the car and signed for my loan, they told me that I was financing X amount of dollars.
I just got my loan paperwork in the mail 2 days ago from the bank that lent me the money- and they said that I financed an amount that is $5,000 more than X. What gives? Could there be $5,000 in fees that I wasn't made aware of? Nothing was mentioned at the time that I signed for my loan.
I called the dealership the day that I got the paperwork, and spoke to the finance manager. He was going to pull my folder and call me back. I know he was off yesterday, so I am waiting for his phone call today. I'm hoping this is just a mistake!
ETA: I just got off the phone with the dealership. They apparently had me signed up for the Extended Service Contract- which I had NOT purchased nor SIGNED for. It explains it all! They cancelled it- and I am now financing the amount that I originally thought!

Totally a scam! How do you inadvertently sign up for a service contract worth $5K. That sales person or sales manager built it into the deal so you wouldn't notice but you are smart!

It definitely wasn't the sales person- it was the sales manager. I've known the sales person's family since I was 12- and am good friends with his sister. It was most definitely the business manager (the one who I did the loan paperwork with). I am so angry- but at least its (hopefully) taken care of.
