anyone familiar with p90x?
DH's birthday is about a month from now and he mentioned he wanted p90x since he saw some guy he worked w/ lost a ton of weight from doing it... so i ordered it for him, but now i was wondering... do i need to order anything else in addition to the dvd's? i think i read somewhere you may need a pull up bar, resistance bands, and adjustable dumbells but i figure i would ask on here if anyone was familiar with the program... TIA!

You're right! You do need some other equipment to be able to do the program right. Some various weight dumbells and a pull-up bar really are key. The resistance bands aren't necessary but they help if you didn't want to do all the pull ups or as an alternative to dumbells.
Its a GREAT program!!! Intense, but really reshapes your body!

Re: anyone familiar with p90x?
It requires either dumbells or resistance bands.......You dont need both. I would buy whatever he's comfortable with or would rather use.
It does require the pull up bar......but b/c our doors are so high, we really cant use it anywhere. So we try to do an alternate exercise.
It's a great program. There are so many DVD's.......that at least he wont get bored with it. And there are also sooo many recipes to choose from as well.
GL!!

This is on my Xmas list as well - as well as Insanity. BTW - Insanity needs no other equipment - show it to him - maybe he will want that instead - it looks KILLER!!!!!

Re: anyone familiar with p90x?
DH and I are almost near day 60 of P90x and he is already down 26 lbs!! Me 8.5 lbs.
We are doing the classic version. We are unable to do pull ups yet so, we did not buy the chin up bar. We did buy 2 sets of resistance bands (medium and heavy) and a set of 50 lb adjustable dumbells.
Depending on what shape DH is currently in, you may not need to buy him the chin up bar, we are able to do alternate chin up exercises with the bands. We are aiming to buy the chin up bar for Round 2 (after the 1st 90 days).

Re: anyone familiar with p90x?
DH does this every single morning. He uses weights, a yoga mat and the pull up bar that goes in the door frame. He is down a TON of weight since doing it and his muscles are like "guns!" It is a great workout!! I tried it once and gave up halfway through, LOL.
