Anyone familiar with the Atlanta area??
I'm making a day trip up there with the ILs and I need some things to do.
At night, we'll be stopping by Sweetwater Brewery and Atlanta Brew Co.
During the day....I have no idea! Are there any nice, outdoor shopping areas (maybe historic-type)? Any parks or something that we could picnic at for lunch?
And in the midtown area, I need restaurant reccs. We love italian, but reasonably priced.

Re: Anyone familiar with the Atlanta area??
I just got back 2 weeks ago and spent a day in the downtown area. We went to the Aquarium, AMAZING! And then to the park right across the street, I think it is Centenial Park. We ate at Gladys Knights restaurant. Also went to Atlantic Station, an area for shoping and eating, cute area. Atlanta is a great city! Have fun.

Stone Mountain is awesome! But that is outside Atlanta.
Piedmont Park, Margaret Mitchell's house, Georgia Tech are all cool places too!

In the city, you should check out the Coca-Cola tour, the CNN building and The Underground is AWESOME (little town underground for shopping)

i was thinking about the coca-cola tour -- i've heard good things. but its $15pp, which IMO is a bit pricey.
Whats there to do in Underground Atlanta?

Re: Anyone familiar with the Atlanta area??
The Underground is like a town that existed and then the city was built OVER it so it's all underneath ground level. It's weird because there are like street lights and sewers, yet you are underground It's got a lot of cool shops and a restaurant I think. Worth checking out!

Re: Anyone familiar with the Atlanta area??
I love the aquarium there!
For indoor shopping there is the Lenox Mall and another one across the street-I forget the name.
The coca cola tour is fun!
I actually disliked underground atlanta- but since it is near the coca cola tour you could always just take a walk around...
For a great Steakhouse we loved Chops The seafood tower was so delicious! The service was really good
Midpriced but GREAT food- Twist! It is a tapas bar of sorts, but more seafood and not as typical....we love it there!
They are the same owners as another restaurant in the Lenox Mall- which we enjoyed too but I can't remember the name!
