Another odd thing that has nothing to do with Brian I’m sure but apparently Gabby is the third person missing and still not found this summer in that same park. The other two are young men. Sad.

And yea.... where the hell did this kid flee to? Beyond bizarre.

I think I said it earlier on this thread but I was just there the first week of September and our guide told us people go missing there all the time because inexperienced campers and hikers underestimate the risks associated with parks like this.

What kind of risks? Murderers?

I saw online the final text - it said can you help Stan? I keep on getting his calls and texts. Stan was her grandfather who she didn’t call Stan… so sad!

He is SO guilty and they all know it. He thought he was swift and he knew he had his parents to back him up. I hope they find him soon as I am sure he is alive and they know exactly where he is.

Why wouldn't the parents be helping out searching for him if he was truly missing?

I would be pretty surprised at this point if he was found alive. All he has is a backpack. Where is he getting food and water? If he goes to a store, he'll be recognized.

I think he fed himself to an Alligator...that is what I think. No trace, no thing. Just a pile of POOP.

i am sure he is away someplace safe and fine. No way they are acting all normal not knowing if he is dead or alive. As a parent you would be out there trying to find him. What about his cellphone? Where is it? Why are they not pinging it?

I agree. He's guilty as sin and knows it. I would not be surprised to hear that he took the easy way out rather than to face the music.

I hope his POS family is held accountable for the role they are playing in all of this. They KNOW what happened and they HELPED him to get away. It's disgusting.

Something's up why the lawyer cancelled the press conference today. Who knows what he was going to say (lie about) and they probably have way too much evidence now and he will look MORE like a fool than he already does.

Sounds like the FBI requested that the lawyers press conference be cancelled.

Yup. Once this autopsy is done, they will know more too.

Re: Anyone following the Gabby Petito story?

I think someone is hiding him and he is in Mexico or Cuba or something. I also think he left before she was reported missing.

I go back on the suicide thing. I think there is a personality disorder there or he is a psychopath. He won’t kill himself if that is the case.

There is also that 911 call about how HE was slapping HER.

I’m still bothered by the way the police handled that incident. She wasn’t “crazy.” She was in great distress. It looks like she was reacting to the psychical and psychological abuse he was doing.

I’m hopeful that they capture him. It makes me think of how they caught one of the Boston bombers with infrared. Did they say how long the autopsy will take?

Someone brought up a good point on Nancy Grace that sometimes families start freaking out and saying they are scared that their suspected family member will commit suicide and they help look for him or plead for him to return.

Instead it seems to be crickets. I keep asking myself what I would do in their shoes. I like to think i would do the right thing but I can’t imagine what that would be like.

It looks like this case has been triggering to a lot of women who have been in abusive relationships, too. They see a lot of similarities. It’s all so sad.

Yes to all. He is alive and it wasn't handled well from the beginning.

Yes hopefully if anything women will get out of relationships like this and be able to get help more easily.

It’s not that easy to just “get out.” There is a whole cycle of abuse. And to top it off, police sometimes are sometimes not helpful at all. That one police officer was talking about his ex-wife, FFS. Then said “look what anxiety can get you into.” Like WTF is that? Hindsight is 20/20, though.

Apparently the female park ranger was telling her to get out of the relationship. It’s not on the released tape what was said, but she talked to her for a while.

The thing that gets me is the police were responding to the 911 call that he was hitting her! They knew about this. She even said that he had grabbed her face and he had tried to leave without her. And all they did was go by what he said and his marks, and the 911 call apparently meant nothing. If anything, I hope this case brings a lot more awareness to what goes on behind abuse because it’s a much deeper issue.

I also have to say though, I was in a very volatile/borderline abusive relationship around that age. It is an age where you are still figuring out yourself and navigating young love. Emotions can be extremely intense at that age. Couple that with living together in a tiny van for months. The whole thing was a recipe for disaster. It's just too bad she didn't reach out for help sooner and get herself out of there.

I’m trying to be mindful to shift the focus and responsibility from women having to seek help and getting out to instead having men cut their abusive ways. Men should be looking at this and getting help dealing with their jealousy, control and abuse issues.

It’s difficult because it’s so ingrained in everyone for women to get out when it should be on men to stop abusing. Something I’m trying to work on in what I say and type.

I understand what you are saying but at the same time we also need to teach our daughters what behavior they should absolutely not tolerate. This man was clearly unstable enough to kill her. That is a major human defect. No amount of teaching him to respect women is going to fix what is off with him.

Re: Anyone following the Gabby Petito story?

It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

Just to add to the conversation...my neighbors nephew actually dated Gabby a few years ago. His parents moved to NC and she actually followed and lived with them for a bit. She did not have a great home life from what I have heard. Her mother remarried and gabby didnt get along with the Step father. I mean its strange that an 18 year old would want to leave home and live with another family...

But from what I heard, she was very very emotional and unstable. had some issues...you know and things ended very badly when the broke up. I am in no way saying this is at all her fault, just some food for thought, and of course all here say. The whole thing with the boyfreind is waaaacked....but was he abusing her?? I dont know. she was a girl with some issues and maybe they werent getting along and there was an accident. I really have no idea. The whole case is mind boggling.

And just the elements in general. Dehydration, sun exposure, overestimating abilities for climbing and traversing the terrain, etc.
