Anyone Get the Swine Flu Vaccine in 1976?
Just curious. I talked to my Mom, and she said I got it at school. I don't remember it at all, though I do have vague memories of the term swine flu.
Too bad it's not supposed to be effective against the current flu.

This is an old vaccine, and it did cause a lot of problems, mainly a form of paralysis and some nerve damage. The CDC recommended everyone above 1 year of age in the U.S. get it at the time, and many people did. But later, it was found that more people had bad reactions to the vaccine than were catching the swine flu, so the vaccinations stopped.
I think that form of swine flu is not quite the same as this form. Though I'm sure doctors researching the new vaccine are examining the old one.

What scares me more is the fact that the vaccine might cause side effects like it did in the 70's....

My grandmother did and she experienced the negative side effects.

There was an outbreak of the swine flu at the army base in Fort Dix, NJ in the 70's. They created a vaccine which they recommend everyone take and unfortunately it caused some people to develope Guillain-Barre Syndrome which is nerve damage caused by the body's own immune system. Anyone is susceptible to it with anyone vaccine they receive, even the "good" vaccines of today.
