Anyone going to try putting baby in the
crib right away vs a co sleeper or bassinet?
I really want to try going right to crib since the room is a mere few steps away - are there any con's to doing this?

Re: Anyone going to try putting baby in the
From my point of view there are only pros to doing this. Your baby will know from day 1 that his/her crib is where they sleep and you will not have to deal with transitioning to the crib at a later date. We put Jack in his crib from about two weeks old and never had issues with him not liking the crib..until of course he started to climb out at 18 months!

Re: Anyone going to try putting baby in the
It was my plan, we had Ali in the bassinet for 5 days - cause thats what we thought was better, we ended up putting her in the crib after the 5th day and she has been fine.
The reason we changed was that neither one of us was sleeping when she was up, so it wasn't helping that we were both in need of sleep.

Re: Anyone going to try putting baby in the
We're planning on having Luca sleep in the bassinet at night (for convenience sake) but putting him down for naps during the day in the crib.

i think we are going to do the same. i want her to be a little used to going in the crib - not that she hates it when we try to switch her completely over.

I am going to do this. Or, at least try. If baby doesn't like it, I can always borrow my friend's basinette.

Re: Anyone going to try putting baby in the
We had our baby in the bedroom with us for six months, thats what is recommended for avoiding SIDS. It was fine and I loved having him right next to me. We had a co-sleeper for a while and then we co-slept in bed together.
We had no problem putting him into his own room at six months...

Re: Anyone going to try putting baby in the
Not 100% sure yet.
We are having two so they will be in the same crib and I will be breastfeeding both (I might wind up looking like one of those women in National Geographic with boobs down to their knees ).
We will either have them in our room or for DH's sake and mine due to the breastfeeding I might keep a bed in the nursery and sleep there after the first feeding of the night.

Re: Anyone going to try putting baby in the
I registered for the mini co-sleeper but I am going to take the "lets see what happens when the baby is here approach". I hear it helps in the prevention of SIDS but who knows...

Same here. It was more sad for me moving her to her room than it was for her.

Re: Anyone going to try putting baby in the
We are in an apartment and are less than 10feet away from her room so we are going to put her right into her crib. If I get too nervous about leaving her alone, we'll get a bassinet.

Re: Anyone going to try putting baby in the
This is JMO, but I did this with my dd and it hasn't been a problem. I was soo tempted to put the bassinet in our room the first night just to have her close to me, but my good friend gave me valubale advice that if she is in the room DH and I are never going to get any sleep. DD makes so many squeeks and coos that I would have been jumping up every 2 secs. Her bedroom is right next to mine, but I still hooked up the monitor and have it right next to my head. It picks up her crying, but not every little sounds she makes. I'm sooo glad we did this because she will be used to sleeping in her crib in her room and we won't have to try and change a thing. I do use the bassinet sometimes during the day and it's in the living room.

Hayley hated her bassinett so I had no choice. She did much better in her crib.

Did this with DS..worked out great. Plan on doing the exact same with DD in a few months when she comes.

Re: Anyone going to try putting baby in the
Both of mine went into their crib from day 1 and it was never a problem. The nursery is right next to our room, and we have monitors, so I felt very comfortable with it.
