Re: Anyone gone on an Alaskian Cruise?
We went last year on the Dawn Princess and had an amazing time!
Alaska is by far the most amazing place we've been too (and we've been around!)

We went in 2005 and it was great. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Sorry to bust into this thread, but we are also planning to go this summer.
Are there any specific ports/sites/activities you recommend?

We did the inside passage sailing from Seattle. We did an excersion in each port, they can be on the expensive side, but DH and I don't drink or didn't do anything that cost "extra" on the boat.
Juneau - We did a whale watch which was really cool
Skagway - nature hike followed by a canoe ride up a river into a lake where we got rather up close and personal with a glacier
Ketchikan - we did an eagle watching exersion - was okay, we were weren't docked in Ketchikan that long only about 4 or 5 hours.
I would have loved to spend more time in Victoria, B.C too, but the boat got in late, and we were rushed through our exersion.
I know alot of people do the helicopter rides that land on a glacier (I'm just not that brave), another popular one is the dog sledding.
ETA: I don't know about the other cruise lines, but the Princess line has an onboard naturalist that will give lectures about what to expect in each port. The guy we had our boat was so facinating, we went to each one of this lectures. He actually lived on a remote island by himself for two years in the inside passage. Was amazing to hear his stories.
