Jess, buy a DVD called potty power. I bought it right after Gillys 3rd bday and she was potty trained that month. I saw a few other moms post about this DVD.

Billy just turned three in March but I highly doubt he will be trained before he is 4. He wants nothing to do with it.

same here
We got potty power and he LOVES it, but still won't go on the potty I think I just need to wait until the weather get really nice and just put him in underwear and let him run around the backyard for the whole weekend. He has to catch on at some point, doesn't he

Re: Anyone have a 3 1/2 year old that is not potty trained?
I consider DD 1/4 potty trained. She'll pee in the potty during the day but refuses to poop in the potty and will not even wake up after she soaks her self in her sleep(we've accidently forgot to put a diaper on her at night and discovered this unfortunate situation). This has been our situation for the past 8mths

Re: Anyone have a 3 1/2 year old that is not potty trained?
me! Well, he is over 4 now, but he wasn't potty trained until a month before he turned 4. We tried about 5 separate times, and he was never interested. One day I bribed him to do a wee on his potty chair, and he suddently overnight was potty trained. Honestly. He just wasn't ready! I wouldn't push it, just try the kid in underpants when you can and (my opinion) is don't push it! All kids are different and some aren't ready until they are a bit older!
Good luck!!!

Re: Anyone have a 3 1/2 year old that is not potty trained?
My DD is 3 1/2 and is potty trained for peeing (most of the time) but will NOT poop on the potty. She has a lot of constipation issues and tells me it's too hard to go on the potty so I'm told by my doctor not to push it, but I am really anxious for her to start pooping on the potty and be 100% trained. As far as peeing, she had to be ready herself - there was nothing that I could have done to push her, except encourage her to go when I saw the signs that she was ready.

Re: Anyone have a 3 1/2 year old that is not potty trained?
DD will be 4 next month....
She CAN go on the potty if and when she feels like it, she just has no desire to. We had her in regular panties for a while, but all that did was make DW have to wash several pairs of undies a day.... We did rewards, watched videos, plenty of positive reinforcements, etc.
When she gets married, it will be her husband's job to change her....

Re: Anyone have a 3 1/2 year old that is not potty trained?
Sorry this is so long, but here is what I did with my son.
My son is is 3 1/2 and I just went through this over the break. I tried about 5 times prior. Did every kind of incentive that you could think of. For toys, I told him he could have if he went (he wanted some toy story figures) also skittles, m&m's, reward chart, sticker chart, big boy underwear (which he picked out), pull-ups, naked, DVD's NOTHING WORKED. I even went as far as buying the toys and showing him if he went, he could get one each time.
I kept telling him before the the break, he was going to start training again, and if he went he would get a prize. The 1st day was awful and the 2nd day it's like something just clicked and he hasn't had an accident since.
The first day I kept underwear and pants on him and brought him to the bathroom every 20-30 minutes. He did get upset and not want to go or sit, (but once we were in there, we were there for like half an hour), I would do anything to entertain him (flash cards, sing) whatever he wanted to do. But he never went, when we would leave the bathroom he would then pee all over himself and the floor He hated the feeling of being wet and it dripping he would get so upset, but I wouldn't change him. I kept him in the clothes for about 5 minutes. The first day was 6 change of clothes and a lot of patience. The 2nd day he had no accidents. Each time he went, he received a small prize and he was in his glory. The 3rd day, instead of taking him I asked him every 20-30 minutes if he needed to go and he would say "No", and then awhile after I asked he would go on his own without saying a word. After that he was done, it's amazing. I still keep him in diaper's at night, he wakes up dry every morning, and if he has to go, he calls for me. Most of the time, he is good until 5am . Hey, I'll take it. He does have issues with the pooping, but he is constipated to begin with and takes Miralax everyday. When I spoke to the pediatrician, she said that's normal. He will go on the potty to poop, but it's not that often and then he tells me he has a belly ache :(
I will agree with everyone else. They will do it when they are ready. Don't push it. My son is a very immature 3 1/2 year old, and I thought he would never do it and he did.
Good luck

Re: Anyone have a 3 1/2 year old that is not potty trained?
My son is 4 and we just trained him. Its common, so you are not alone!
He was not ready in the fact that he just didn't want to use the potty until last month. We decided to just get rid of diapers 2 weeks ago and we never looked back. He trained in a week because he was fully ready. If we had tried this last year, would have been a disaster.

Re: Anyone have a 3 1/2 year old that is not potty trained?
this site was really helpful to me, you need to ditch the underwear, pants and pullups and go bottomless all day. if you go out, you don't put underwear on them, just loose pants. they will get it, you just have to be consistent every single day. most kids don't go to kindergarten in diapers, so he will eventually get it.

Re: Anyone have a 3 1/2 year old that is not potty trained?
DD will be 3.5 next month. It was going pretty well -- she was telling us sometimes, peed & pooped on the potty a number of times, but then one day I tried putting her in underwear, which she excitedly helped pick out. It did not go well. She has watched all kinds of DVDs, I tried having the little potty in the family room by the tv, so she didn't even have to leave the room. That day we went through 10 pairs of pants. We did the chart, rewards. We're still trying. It's totally a control thing with her. It has to be her idea. Hopefully we'll get there soon.
