Really? Even the one on Evergreen? I lived near there for years, and I never knew that. We never rented it out ourselves but I always thought they rented to anyone.
I know they did years and years ago but figured it was still the case.

I know they did years and years ago but figured it was still the case.
Yes, Evergreen, Southside, and Rescue are privately owned by the companys so they can rent it out to the public, my DH is a member of headquarters the main firehouse, which is district owned so the public can't have parties there unless you know someone in the Dept.
