Anyone have a space heater in their DC's room?
DD's room is over the garage and this morning she woke up at 5:15 and her cheeks were ice cold...I dress her ultra warm but her room gets soooo insanely cold...I'm really hesitant to put a heater in there, but are there any safe ones out there? I also think she's waking up that early bc she's been eating nothing lately..UGH... Help!!!

No, aside from the crazy high LIPA bills, they are not the safest things around. Can you put plastic or something over the windows? Home depot sells something like this. Easy to put up and works well.

Mason's room gets so cold too. He's dressed warm with a onsie and warm feetie PJ's. I put a blanket over hit butt after he rolls and sleeping, but his cheeks are still cold. When the heat clicks on then his room turns into a furnace. There's no nice medium... sometimes I turn his fan on with the heat.

this may sound crazy bit at home depot they sell these electric fireplaces for less than $100 and they complete heat up the room and you can set the heat to come throughthe bottom so the actual fireplace doesn't get hot. I have some freinds that use these - they have the same problem as you do.

Re: Anyone have a space heater in their DC's room?
I used a space heater in my DD's room last winter. Made by Honeywell..........you can get them in Target. Her room is the coldest in the house so we had to do something. It didn't affect our LIPA bill because it wasn't on all day......just at bedtime. We set the thermostat and it would cycle on and off throughout the night and keep her room a nice temp. We didn't really want to raise our heat becuz to get her room warm would mean the house would be WAY too hot overall and DH and I aren't big heat people. We like the house cool. The space heater worked great and it's completely safe. DD is in a crib so she cannot get to it. If she slept in a bed I wouldn't use it because it does get warm to the touch.

bed bath and beyond has heaters that don't get hot to the touch and have a safety off if it g-d forbid tips over, I think its the same concept..thats what I'm thinking of getting...

thanks, this is something like the one I'm looking at!!!!! DD is still in a crib too, and I don't think I would put it on her once she is in a regular bed..

You're welcome. The one we got looks like a mini standing radiator. They are maybe $30-40. It really works well.

Re: Anyone have a space heater in their DC's room?
We have a plug in type space heater in DS2's room as well. Like your DD, his room is over the garage and it gets sooo cold in there! Ours looks like a base board and we got it at Home Depot last year. Ours is made by Farenheat and it is made for this type of thing

This is similar to what we use. DD is in our room still and its the coldest room in the house. We got a Delonghi Safe heat oil filled radiator style heate from costco. Ours has a thermostat type thing so we can prevent the room from getting too hot or too cold. I've been very happy with it.
