Anyone have a telescope for there kids?
DS has been asking for a telescope for the last 2 years. We would like to get him one for Christmas.
I tried looking and got overwhelmed, lol.
I want him to be able to see the planets,moon, stars and sun ( I know you need the special lens).

Anyone have a telescope for there kids?
We do! So much fun!
We bought it from BJs, spent about 80 - 90. Its a Celestron telescope I believe the model is the Powerseeker 70AZ.
The kids like to look at the moon, rings around Saturn, Jupiter's moons, and into backyard neighbor's kitchen window!
The sky is the limit in terms of how much you want to spend and features you want. Ours works for us, but my older ones already "want to see more".
If you need help with product recommendations, I'd contact somewhere like Camera Concepts in Patchogue and see if someone can figure out telescope best for your needs.
I wish ours was portable and came with a case.
Its a fun hobby. We are looking into getting passes to view sky in the evening at the state parks. Even my little one is into it...she can point out Venus and some constellations.

DONT buy the national geographic one. My one son got it for his birthday and it is a piece of crap. You can only see the moon, not Venus.

I picked ine up at a yard sale. Totally gets job done. I feel like in each price range...they all are goimg t ok be the same
