Anyone have any experience with the BRCA gene?

DH's mother, aunt, grandfather, and great grandmother all had the gene resulting in cancer so he is eligible and would like to be gene tested. However, I have experience working with the Huntington's Disease population and have seen insurance discrimination take place when people test positive for the gene. Now, breast cancer has practically no stigma compared to HD, and I know the GINA laws and Obama's healthcare plan both say that you can't be denied insurance because of a pre-existing medical condition. But should this law ever change, mixed with the fact that these don't cover long-term care and life insurance make me wonder about the consequences that might happen if DH tests positive.

Would any of our insurance skyrocket? Would we have issues with any other kind of insurance, or how about our future children? Would insurance companies let us do this anonymously or would we have to pay out of pocket to do that? Has anyone experienced any insurance discrimination because of a positive test result? I'm wondering if anyone has gone through this progress before and have any advice.

Thanks in advance.

I am at high risk due to family history. My gyn and i discussed if I should test (which is a very expensive test, i think a couple thousand, and insurance will not cover). She said due to my history, she would treat me the same as she would if i tested positive.
not really what you were asking, but I thought i would share

my doc also discussed getting gene tested due to a family history. but a geneticist we saw for other issues actually suggested my mother get tested. (even though she's had 2 mastectomies already) so that way the test results are not in my records. if she was negative, it would be assumed i would be negative as well. so that is what i chose to do for exactly that reason, i didn't want to chance the insurance company giving me a hard time over it. but that being said, i still get mammo/sono every year and started getting them when i was 28.
