Anyone have any luck selling clothes to a consignment store???

I have some things that are in pretty good condition that I want to get rid of. They don't fit or are not my style anymore.

They usually like them almost new and/or nice brands.

ETA. It's hard to sell women clothes. Even at yard sales.

Only shoes that were considered designer. They wrinkled their noses over everything else I brought in, so I never bothered again.

I did sell clothes at a garage sale once, but people want them REALLY cheap, like $1-2 per item.

It means a bunch of them. Like '10 pairs of size 6 pants, including 5 pairs of jeans from Express, etc'
You probably won't make a lot, but selling per pair it may not be worth the cost and labor to list it/ship it, etc.

I'd donate or trade with friends. At least if you donate you can get a donation slip for tax write-off!

Re: Anyone have any luck selling clothes to a consignment store???

we sold clothes at our garage sale, and they went the fastest!!!

$1 per piece, no matter what it was.

We had a gentleman that came and took 250 items for $200 (yes, we give discounts!) - all kinds of clothing - mens, kids, you name it. He was mailing them to the Dominican Republic for his family members. I thought that was so nice!

Everything was wasn't sold that day (mostly the winter items) was put in the St. Vincent de Paul bins.

Check vinted.com online. It's swapping/selling stuff but only for women clothes though.

In my experience, consignment stores seem to only want big name brands and are very picky about what they take. Usually things only a few years old and in perfect condition.

Re: Anyone have any luck selling clothes to a consignment store???

Old thread but I would probably put the word out first to see if anyone could really use who is on a fixed income.

I've thought of having yard sales or doing Ebay but in the end, I'm too lazy and scared. Chat Icon (especially with dealing with strangers at my house for a yard sale).

You can even try your local FB mom's group if you're a member.
