When are you going? I'd go to Union Square - you can go shopping and on MWF they have the farmer's market.

there is a great movie theatre on 11th and 3rd
you can take a walk on st marks place (8th and 3rd) or like others have said unions and washington squares

oh, farmers market sounds good....I'm going to a doctor appt at beth israel in the morning, and then meeting my sister after school.....
