anyone have "aura" before headache?
Hi - I had the strangest thing happen yesterday - I was seeing a "light" out of the corner of my left eye and otherwise things seem "distorted". I went to the eye doctor immediatley and he said it was an "aura" preceeding a migraine. I did start to develop a headache, but not migraine strength. I've never had this and am a little frightened by it. I read that the hormonal changes could trigger it (I am 5 weeks). Has anyone ele had this happen??

My cousin and my mother had awful migraines through their pregnancy, but even worse towards the end... They said it was so bad they couldn't see straight- maybe that's what they meant? Can you take anything?

sounds like a migrane and the worst part is that there is nothing you can take, but I find that Tiger balm applied to the area and a dark room help
I usually just have to sleep them off

just tylenol. I didn't though, I am already taking 1 baby aspirin a day, so I dodn't want to take anything else. I went to sleep and the headache went away.

Glad to know I'm not alone. It's just that I've never had anything like this before and I am a little nervous since I had a miscarriage in June & I am worried about everything!

Re: anyone have "aura" before headache?
I have had chronic migraines since about 5th grade. I have gotten everything from spots of light around my vision to squiggly lines in front of my eyes before a headache. I can not take my regular migraine medication while I'm PG, so my nuerologist prescribed Fioricet (Sp?). It's a combo of accetometaphine, caffeine and something else. My OBGYN said I can take it, but try to avoid it. I took it for the first time the other day and it worked great and no side effects like the other drugs have for me. If they get really bad and frequent, try asking about that drug.
ETA: Non drug solutions that offer some relief for me have been to put a cold compress on my head and the back of my neck. If I can fall asleep for 2+ hours in a dark/quiet room, I usually wake up feeling better.
