Anyone have bunions or really bad feet?
Do you keep them hidden?
Do you apologize when you get pedicures?
I feel like b/c they are so ugly, I have to apologize and tip more when I get a pedicure, but I don't keep them hidden. They are from dancing and I'm kind of proud of them!

Re: Anyone have bunions or really bad feet?
Not bunions but horrible huge bumps on the front/top of my big toes from doing ballet on pointe for so many years. I know for a fact the ladies that do my nails make comments about them. It hurts but there is not much I can do about it so what can I say? I went to a podiatrist a few years back. She said I could get my feet corrected but I could not go to work for 6 weeks! I figure since it was not life threatening I would just forget about it!
Stinks though....

Re: Anyone have bunions or really bad feet?
From being a ballerina, i had awful bunions, my feet were nasty. I was too embarassed to get pedicures. I ended up having 6 surgeries to correct them and they looked fabulous. Even then, I apologize when I get a pedicure b/c they always stare at my feet and make me feel self conscious. Once they are nicely painted I feel like it takes away from how horrible they are. I tend to do the peep toe shoe instead of full front open.
But, it has been 4 years and I'm running into complications again and need 4 more surgeries....fun, fun....

Re: Anyone have bunions or really bad feet?
I had bunions from a combination of years of ballet and heredity. I had them both removed; one two years ago and one 3 months ago but did it because they caused me pain, not for cosmetic reasons.
But I must say, I feel much more comfortable getting pedicures now.

Same for me. (I even went the the same Dr. as Barbara (nrthshgrl)).
I never apologized for my bunions when getting a pedicure. My feet are always clean and neat. I'm sure they've seen MUCH worse.
I still have very obvious scars from my surgery, and the girls at the salon certianly comment on them.
I've already started wearing sandals and flip flops this season, even with the ugly scars. But they are what they are.

Re: Anyone have bunions or really bad feet?
I do. from heredity. I hate them. but I've heard such horror stories about the surgery (bunion)
and the whole not being able to exercise really freaks me out too...b/c I gain weight when I don't.
I always feel self conscious about them though. I even hide them when I am at home.

Re: Anyone have bunions or really bad feet?
When I had bunions (I had surgery last year to remove them), I never apologized for them! It's not like they're contagious. And I didn't feel embarassed because they're genetic, so oddly, I felt connected to my grandmother through them! Not that I miss them, every morning when I throw the covers off, the first thing I do is look at my feet and smile!

Erin- a word on the scars...mine are almost completely gone. I swore I'd have that line on my foot forever but it's gone, gone, gone!

Same here, the scar on the foot I had done 3 years ago is almost invisible! Now, the one I had done 3 months ago...that one is real obvious right now but it'll take some time.

That is so good to hear! I'm still applying vitamin E oil and cocoa butter at least 2x day. I just need to be patient!
I'm really happy with the results. I've even started to wear heels again. Pointy-toe shoes are still a "no" for me though. But it's already such an improvement.

I had both feet done in November, so my scars are still pretty dark. Some days I'm amazed at how good the scars look, and then others... .
I'm happy to hear that the scars do fade though.
