Anyone have Disney Infinity?

I ordered my DC Dinsey Infinity for Xmas bc TRU has the started set on sale for 59.99 and Amazon price matched.

So, now I have the starter set....now what? How do the add ons work, if you buy new characters to their worlds come with them? Whats with the power discs, do I need those too?

I really have no idea how this thing works.

For his bday, my son got the the starter set and a few extra characters and my kids seem fine so far with that. We have some power discs which I believe you put under the characters to give them special powers while on the Disney portal.

One thing to note if you have regular wii - you can't play in 2 player mode for all parts of the game. I may not be using the right terminology but you can only play 1 player in the character's world. But can do 2 players in adventure mode. I thought my game was broken and there is no number anywhere I can find to call for assistance...but finally found my answer when I started googling my issue. My boys were disappointed with that. I don't think this is an issue for xbox or wii U.

My kids are getting it for Hanukkah. I also ordered the Cars extension pack. I am not sure how all of it works. My DH is much more into games than I am, so I am relying on him to set it up. edit : ours is for the PS3.

I heard the same thing from someone at work. That the Wii version, for whatever reason, isn't the FULL version and doesn't have the same capabilities of the other platforms.

From site
NOTE: Due to the space and memory limitations of the Wii platform, some design decisions had to be made in the game. In the case of multiplayer, we decided to focus on the Toy Box over the Play Sets because we wanted every player to be able to build custom play experiences together.

Disney Infinity features 2-player split screen play in Toy Box mode. That means an additional player can drop in at any time during gameplay and control the second character (the figure in the B [circular] slot on the Disney Infinity base).
___
yeah.. they call it a limitation of the wii platform. I call it a way to try to sell wii U. It was a disappointing and I think the box of product should say something so you are aware it is not a 2 player game in all modes but what can you do?

I will say my boys are laughing hysterical when they play this game. Real loud giggles. They like it but definitely not as much as they enjoyed Skylanders when it was new and when Giants first came out.

Re: Anyone have Disney Infinity?

we have this for our kids. My son is 5 and loves to play it, but he has no idea the purpose of the game. He just loves "playing" with all the characters and navigating around. It keeps him happy!

Re: Anyone have Disney Infinity?

We bought it over the summer since my boys finished Skylanders Giants. My oldest (8) found Infinity to be very boring in comparison to Skylanders. It was kinda a waste for us since they rarely use it. They are eagerly awaiting the launch of Skylanders SWAP Force this week.

The power discs come in a blind two pack. Each discs enhances the game. Circular Power Discs are used to grant your character special power ups that can be used in the Play Sets and in the Toy Box. Hex Power Discs unlock special gadgets, vehicles, and themes in the Toy Box only. You don't need to buy all the discs. It really won't affect the gameplay.

A bit of advice.....do not open your packs! Take them home and place on your base and scan. This way you can see if you have it or not. Then you can return the pack you already have!!! If you are buying them in a store, use the set up bases to see if it's a duplicate.
