Anyone have info or experience with Saf-T-Swim in either Westbury or East Meadow?
We wanted to sign Kieran up for mommy and me swimming lessons soon. Anyone go to either of these locations? And anyone know their pricing? I know each location is different with pricing. I hate when places don't post their prices on their website or allow you to inquire about it via email. I always feel like they are going to try to talk me into something I don't want to do on the phone because I am not good at saying no! So before I am forced to ask over the phone, just wondering if anyone here had pricing info for either of those locations. TIA!

I took DD to Mommy & Me in Westbury and honestly hated it. I paid $99 for 6 weeks (that was a special). They had a bunch of kids running it..totally disorganized.

Re: Anyone have info or experience with Saf-T-Swim in either Westbury or East Meadow?
Just completed a mommy and me session at the East Meadow location with my 10 month old DS and loved it. We had a great instructor. He has a 13 month old son so he was really in tune w/the kids and the parents. We are going to do another session starting in August. It was $99 for 6 weeks, and that included a $15 insurance charge that you only pay once per year. My girlfriend and I chose this location because she had heard not-so-great things about the Westbury location. Feel free to FM me with any questions.

My DD does regular swim at westbury. There are a lot of young kids teaching. The mommy and me that i see is on sunday mornings and the pool is loud and crowded. If you did choose westbury I would see if they did something during the week

agreed. never again. I think our price was $210 for 6 one on one classes - only DS & instructor.

My son goes to SS in Westbury. If you can go on a weekday morning it's great but if you have to go after school hours it's a madhouse. I have had a good experience - the instructor is young but he is great with my son. My son has learned a good amount in the two months that he's been going. Also, the pricing is pretty reasonable. I pay $30 for a half hour private lesson, but I had to prepay a bunch of lessons to get that rate.

Re: Anyone have info or experience with Saf-T-Swim in either Westbury or East Meadow?
We go to East Meadow. Our instructor is older (like my age, not a college kid) and he is excellent (he's probably the one that taught one of the posters above at mommy and me, the instructor with the 13 mo old).
I like one on one better than the mommy and me. I don't feel as if they are 'learning' anything at mommy and me - it's more of an 'activity' for parents/kids than learning.
My son has been going since he's around 22 months and now at almost 4 is an amazing swimmer. A lifeguard at a pool this weekend actually came up to me to ask me about his experience and comment on his abilities, so the program does work.
Even the college kids are very good. They are all trained to teach safety and swim. I feel you need to be clear with them from the beginning -- "these are my goals", blah blah blah.
I find safety swim not great with communication at all, but because my son is excelling I will keep him in the program for the foreseable future.
The pricing is pretty much standard across all locations (I'm pretty sure it's one owner) ... the more sessions you buy, the cheaper it is. For example, I buy 11 sessions at a time. That is 66 weeks of classes. I pay an upfront registration fee then every 6 weeks pay. When you add it up, it comes out to $25/week. If you buy only one session (6 weeks), it is A LOT more.
I cannot say enough good things about the PROGRAM and what they learn. I'm not thrilled with their management/communication but I deal because I love their program.
And I agree with the poster that said durig the day is much better than afterschool/weekends. It's a madhouse at those times. When my son swims there are 2 other children in the entire pool, so plenty of room to move, swim and learn.

I went to the Westbury location and actually had the complete opposite experience as everyone else. We were there on Friday mornings and there were only 7 of us with babies. The instructor was fantastic! He was so good with the babies, especially the ones who seemed to be scared or would cry. He completely blew away my expectations. I enjoyed the classes & will be signing up for more!

DS goes to Westbury for private lessons. He loves it there. It's crowded there though. He goes on Saturday. There are A LOT of kids sharing the pool.
For a mommy and me, I would call any of their locations and ask for the quietest times they have.

Re: Anyone have info or experience with Saf-T-Swim in either Westbury or East Meadow?
I have been taking DS to safe-t-swim in East Meadow since he was 4 months old for individual lessons. Any class is free at this location until the baby is 6 months old. I'm almost positive that the highly recommended male teacher at this location, with a 13 month old is Corey. That's my son's teacher and he is AMAZING! He's so amazing that I believe there is a wait list for him! I have been so happy with these lessons that I continue to buy the largest package, which is 60 classes (10 sessions) for $1700 (last year was $1600). You can charge it (paying about $120 monthly) or pay it all at once. They also have gift certificates which have been purchased by DS grandparents for birthdays to offset the cost. Only time will tell as to if the money is worth it but at 21 months old, my DS loves the water, including going under, can pull himself out of the pool at the wall if Corey puts him there and is now beginning to reach for the wall when he is underwater all by himself. The individual lessons also give me 30 minutes to sit back, relax, have a cup of coffee and watch my baby in the pool!

I agree and would recommend going during the week if possible. I had previously taken a mommy and me class at the Oceanside location on Sunday afternoons that was a madhouse and much less organized/structured.
