Anyone have the Disney Visa Rewards Credit Card
Everytime I get an order from the Disney Store the postcard for the Disney Visa Rewards Card is in there. I was thinking of canceling one of my other cards and applying for this one in place. I am planning on looking into it more but in the meantime anyone that has it can you tell me the rewards/ perks of there card?
Thanks!

Re: Anyone have the Disney Visa Rewards Credit Card
I'm a charter cardmember (shocker, right?).
It's not the BEST card in terms of rewards. You generally get 1% back in Disney rewards on the no fee version.
If you typically book your vacation as a package you can get o% interest for 6 months.
You also get a $50 OBC with Disney Cruise Line.
What i like is that you typically get a 3ish day head start on any discounts that come out so you get the best availability.
There are also discounts at Disney Stores (10% off purchases over $50), and on many of the tours at Disney Parks.
You can buy exclusive merchandise and at EPCOT you get a free character meet and greet with free photo.
There are some other benefits as well such as discounts on Disney on Broadway and other Disney products. I think the head start on WDW promotions and the 0% interest are probably the most valuable though I have used it for merch discounts as well.

Re: Anyone have the Disney Visa Rewards Credit Card
Just to add....if you keep a balance, this isn't the card you want. The interest rate is really high. So it's great for all of the above, as long as you're paying it off

Re: Anyone have the Disney Visa Rewards Credit Card
I looked into the card but decided against it. I did not think the rewards were that great.
We charge on our starwood amex as long as the vendors accept amex. We have a toys r us mastercard as our secondary. TRU card also has crappy rewards but we don't use it as our main card and it's nice to get the $10 TRU certificates. We always have gifts to buy.

Anyone have the Disney Visa Rewards Credit Card
We have it as our Visa (our main card is the Starwood Amex) and have been happy with it. We weren't given a no fee option - we get 1% back on most things but, there are certain things (gas and restaurants I believe) where we get 2% back.
We signed up when they were offering a $200 giftcard - so it was well worth it. Someone said the amount of the sign up promotion varies between $50 and $200 so it pays to wait until it's high.
We charge daycare on it so our rewards rack up quite quickly. We used them to pay for our Disney park ticket for our trip last year and i just used $200 of rewards to pay for airline tickets this year (you can use your rewards towards any flight on any airline to any destination).

REALLY? I had no idea you could do that with the airlines! Thanks for putting that out there!!!

That's only for the Premier (fee-based) version of the card.
ETA: I've had mine since long before the fee based version existed and have not upgraded. This LINK describes the differences

Re: Anyone have the Disney Visa Rewards Credit Card
Honestly, it's not a card I really recommend. I am also a charter cardmember.
I did put 1/2 of my DVC purchase on the card (I paid it in full the following month). The only thing I reaally use it for now is to charge my yearly dues. The return for rewards isn't that great.

I'm going to put my DVC payments on it and then use the points I get from that to pay the dues.
There are definitely cards out there with better rewards but if you're a big Disney person, it can be a good card to have.

The rewards aren't that great though. I put my yearly dues on it each year. The return is 1% - so if your dues is $1,200, you get $12 in rewards dollars. If you get the premier with the $49 annual fee, you will earn 2% on any Disney purchase - $24 a year. We usually just put the value on a redemption card and have them apply whatever is on there to any room charges when we're checking out.

Anyone have the Disney Visa Rewards Credit Card
So it seems like the Starwood Amex is recommended? We currently have an AMEX too- Blue Cash, but I dont think the reqards are great so we are also looking to change that amex as well. I am going to look into the Starwood for amex and Disney for visa.

I'm looking into Blue Sky. It works with any airline. I have a Blue card I can change into that but the interest rate is much higher so I'm not sure.
DH has the Starwood Amex from when he had a travel job and was staying at Sheratons, but we realy don't stay Starwood. We also have the Delta Skymiles card, which we use for its companion airfare once a year, plus we check bags for free and get priority boarding. I usually fly JetBue though so I am looking into that card too.

We are very satisfied with Starwood AMEX. I also looked into marriott (ritz is not included in the marriott i think).
Starwood rewards are pretty good. If you spend $7000, you get 7000 points, which is good for a sheraton level hotel. On some other cards with 1% or 2% cash back, you would be getting $70 or $140 cash back. With that 7000 points, I get to stay at a hotel that is worth about $250-350 per night. Most family friendly hotels are between 7000 and 14,000 points.
We often stay at at Westins for a mix of cash and points. Usually it is 4800 + $60/night or something like that for a room that costs normally $300 per night. We always get upgraded because we are gold members. You automatically become gold if you spend a certain amount per year ( i think it is $30k/year but don't quote me on that).
We've stayed all around the US free or very cheap due to cash and points. Some examples - Sheraton Vistana in Orlando, Sheraton in front of Sesame Place, Sheraton and Westin in Philadelphia (went to Please Touch Museum), Westin and Phoenician in Scottsdale, Aloft in Mt Laurel, Westin in Boston, the list goes on and on... If you like Disney, the Swan and Dolphin are on site at Disney. You can participate in extended magic hours. We may try that hotel out next time if we don't choose a disney themed hotel.

We are happy with the Starwood Amex - there are no blackout dates and you can redeem points at almost any Starwood property globally.
We have a timeshare through them as well so we got a large number of points when we purchased the timeshare, plus a large number of points once we signed up for the card. We charge everything and pay it off (including our wedding reception) so the points added up quickly for us.
We usually use the points for shorter stays (1-3 nights). When we go away for longer periods of time, we use our timeshare or go to our rental property.
