Anyone have their tubes tied? Need feedback please.
Hi, I want to have my tubes tied after DC2 is born in March. They want to schedule a c-section because I ended up having DS1 by CS in Oct 2010. I really wanted to try for VBAC, but if they're going to have me open, then I'd like to have my tubes tied at the same time. This way I don't have to have 2 surgeries. Anyone have any negative feedback or issues after you had your tubes tied? What are some side effects? I'm going to speak with my OB at the end of the month but in the meantime, I'd like to hear your experience. Thanks so much!!

Scheduled C-sec for my boys, went in, had babies, tubes tied.
Honestly, i dont know any diff.
I had no issues.
ETA: No regrets.
I am happy with my decision.

I dont know much about it, but wanted to tell you to look into the Essure procedure. Its done in your OB office, with the same "effects" as tying your tubes but its non surgical.
This way you could try for your VBAC and not have to feel like you are deciding to have a c/s simply due to your desire to have your tubes tied.

Re: Anyone have their tubes tied? Need feedback please.
Its only been 3 weeks for me so I don't have long term effects.
The cs took a bit longer with the extra work, but not too bad.
The only negative I have had has been the finality of it all. I don't want any more kids and I don't want to be pregnant again, but taking away my option makes me sad here and there...then I get over it.
I just think if I do have a change of heart there is always adoption or ivf. By that point, I remember why I made the decision.

Thanks, yeah we were discussing Essure at my last appt. I want to try for VBAC, but my practice doesn't do them. I considered changing practices, but honestly, don't feel like going through all of the paperwork & researching who to go to. We are in the middle of putting our house up on the market, and I just figured I'd stay with my current OB. If I wasn't getting a CS, I'd definitely be doing Essure. My sister did it & was happy with it!

There is someone on here that had problems after she had her tubes tied. Just something to research...
I forget who it was, but I will try to search...

Re: Anyone have their tubes tied? Need feedback please.
This is what I'm worried about. (just read her post). I'm not concerned with the recovery time, but more of the long term effects. One of the reasons I would rather have my tubes tied instead of birth control is because of the hormones. I just can't handle BC pills. Thanks for posting that link. I'ml going to FM her. I wish my DH would just get a vasectomy.

When the time comes, I think I am going to talk to DH about going this route.
Or I may consider Essure...

I just called DH & told him about my concerns with hormonal changes afterwards if I got my tubes tied. He pretty much just said, "Ok so that option is out!" lol. He knows how bad my mood swings are & is not looking for a lifetime of that! Maybe that just might convince him to get himself snipped. No joke, mood swings for me are not just mood swings. I feel like I'm going crazy when I get my period.

It sounds like you are no longer going this route, but if you are, make sure you talk to your OB as early as possible. By the time I decided I wanted to do this it was too late because my admission to Good Sam had been completed and Good Sam will not allow it. Had I told my OB earlier, he would have scheduled my c-section and tubal at Southside.

Oooh, I brought this up to my OB at the very 1st appt I made to confirm this pregnancy. this peanut was surprise # 2 for us. DS was surprise #1, so obviously DH are no good at protection or planning. And although my DS is my world & I couldn't imagine my life without him, we just want to stop at two kids. Without a doubt!!! I just have so many questions about the after effects.

Re: Anyone have their tubes tied? Need feedback please.
I had my tubes tied with my DD 4 years ago - no problems whatsoever. My 2 sisters, my SIL and my good friend have all had their tubes tied - all at different ages (between 25-45) and none have had problems, either. Good luck with your decision.
