Anyone have their wedding gowns made into christening gowns?
I'd love to be able to "use" my dress again.

I was thinking about it and found a website online that does it. I think it is a very special thing to do.

Claud did - she had a beautiful gown made from her wedding dress for Elena's baptism.
Maybe you can FM her for the info.

Our family christening gown is made from my Mother's gown. My Nana made both.

I had all these grand plans too, but in the end, I didn't... My mom wasn't crazy about it, since she bought me my wedding gown. So mom ended up buying her gown, which I loved anyway.

my husband said the same thing, I was going t make him a traditional Irish gown but instead he wore my husband's outfit which was a little short outfit.

Re: Anyone have their wedding gowns made into christening gowns?
Claud, that dress is beautiful and so is daughter. Who did you find to make it and how much of your dress did they use. I really want to do this if we have a girl one day but I am worried that the base of dress might be to ruined because of all the walking I did outside.

Re: Anyone have their wedding gowns made into christening gowns?
I was thinking of this but my dress is was so simple(brocade, no beads) that I thought one day she would like to wear it and maybe customize it. So I kept it intact....Beautiful dress Claud!

Did you ever have your dress cleaned after your wedding?
My dress was cleaned and boxed after the wedding, and was in perfect condition when we opened it to make the christening gown. They used most of my dress to make it - I only have the bodice (top half) of my dress left. But, the christening gown is LONG...so that is why they used so much material.

Re: Anyone have their wedding gowns made into christening gowns?
I had Joseph's christening outfit made from my train. It was not a "gown". It was a collared button up shirt with overalls. I loved it. I'll see if I can find a good pic. We didn't get many that day Image Attachment(s):

Re: Anyone have their wedding gowns made into christening gowns?
I would have done this if I did not have my grandmother's gown for Molly to wear. i LOVE this idea!!!! My train is too femine for a boy's outfit. I will be buying an outfit for our son to wear. He can't wear my grandmother's delicate lace gown.

Re: Anyone have their wedding gowns made into christening gowns?
I did have it cleaned but not until 5 months after we got married and it just seems that they could have done a better job. I guess I could always try to have it cleaned again and worse case they maybe put some sort of lining or I dont use it.
