My boys are 3 1/2 years apart and i love the age gap. My 1st son is so good with the baby (3 months old). SO GOOD. Couldn't have been any better and he's so helpful!

Re: anyone have there children 4 years apart??
This is us too except DS is October and we won't be trying until later in the year.
I was just talking to a friend and her kids are 3.5 yrs apart. She loved the age gap and said it worked really well. Plus, only one in diapers at a time.
ETA: Plus, I feel that when they are age 3-4, they can actually understand what is happening and that a baby is coming. I never felt comfortable having another earlier bc I was not a fan of the fact that DS' world would be completed changed and he'd not understand why. Just me.

Re: anyone have there children 4 years apart??
DS turned 4 when DD was 3.5 mos old. I didn't plan for them to be that far apart, but its how life worked out and I wouldn't change it for the world. I love that DS was a little more independent and could comprehend more, I love the way he looks at his baby sister with love in his eyes, and has since the moment he met her. I love that he watches out for her and can help her with things and get me diaper cream or wipes when I am up to my elbows in poop All in all it has been a really great experience for us. No I am due in July and my DD just turned 2 this month and I am patrified

My DC are 4 years apart. DD was apart of everything. She went to drs appointments to see DS on "tv". Since he was born she has been such a big help.

Re: anyone have there children 4 years apart??
Yes! 4 years, 3 1/2 months apart.
It is a GREAT age gap. DS#1 appreciates his baby brother. He calls him "my baby". He's no less his baby than he is mine! LOL He helps, loves, cares for and appreciates him. Doesn't resent or compete with him. DS#1 is independent... so much easier only having one "baby".
It's turned out perfect for us!
Good luck!

Re: anyone have there children 4 years apart??
My Ds's are 3y4m a part and a friend whose kids are the same ages as mine her DDs are 3y10m apart.
We both say all the time what a GREAT age gap it was/is.
First during pregnancy, my DS was so involved. He understood what was happening, was super excited to go to Dr appts with me, pick out gifts for his sibling, etc. It was such a great family experience for us because DS was such a part of it.
He still recalls with great detail the days after his brother was born. He can tell you the date, the day of the week, where hte baby was in the room when I first came in, what they were both wearing etc. It was so monumental in his life and he LOVES to talk about it!
He has been a great help from day 1. DS2 is now a year old/ We never had jealousy, no regression in behaviors. DS1 was old enough that he didnt need or WANT my 100% attention so taking care of the baby it wasnt like i had 2 babies crying for my attention. DS1 understood when he needed to be patient and wait. And at the same time, there were times I put the baby down, he would cry and I would say to the baby, sorry sweetie but your big brother needs me now.
REally it has been a great experience for our famly! I honestly have no clue how families of 2 under 2 do it!

3 1/2 yrs apart and well honestly, THANK GOSH I waited!
after finding out we were having twins, it was a relief knowing their older sister was very independent and understood and became and still is helpful.

Re: anyone have there children 4 years apart??
Mine are 4.5 years apart. Part of me LOVES it. DD is in preschool and I work part time so I really get to spend some time with DS without feeling I am neglecting DD. Part of me wishes I had done it sooner, because I think I was lulled into complacency when DD became more independent and sleep was really good. Then DS came and it was really hard to go back to bad sleep, diaper changes and carrying a baby everywhere.
From the kid perspective, it is great. They are close enough they will have things in common but far apart enough, they will have their own friends!

Re: anyone have there children 4 years apart??
My kids are 4 years apart and for me, its perfection! I personally didn't want them too close together, so the age gap is great. My oldest had started school when my little one was born, so I had some free time alone with the baby. And they still play brilliantly together at 2 and 6.
