Anyone have to call for Jury Duty? I HAVE TO GO IN TOMORROW-UPDATE I'M BACK
I have to call every day this week. This is the first time I've had to call.
SEE PAGE 2 FOR QUESTIONS...
Thursday (yesterday) I had to go into Riverhead, I got so lost. The LIE East had so much traffic, 2 lanes going into one. I finally get there and couldn't find parking. After finding parking and going through the metal detector I didn't get questioned or anything. I sat in the room and waited from 9:30-12 and they finally said the attorneys didn't need anymore people and we were free to go. They also said I was good for 6 years
Thank goodness that's over

Re: Anyone have to call for Jury Duty?
Yea, I think they installed this a few years ago. I remember getting the notice and showing up for 2 boring long-a$$ days only to be told to go home

Re: Anyone have to call for Jury Duty?
DH just got called for Jury Duty. He's gotten out of it each and every time but they finally caught up to him and sure enough he had to go in today.

Re: Anyone have to call for Jury Duty?
i served two weeks ago. Sat around and waited to get adjourned in the early afternoon. They didn't like that I had so much experience with the types of cases they were seating that day.

Re: Anyone have to call for Jury Duty?
I was just a telephone standby juror (Federal) in February. I had to call every day for 2 weeks but never had to show up.
Then I got called for jury duty in March and showed up and was dismissed the first day.

Re: Anyone have to call for Jury Duty?
I had to call a few months ago, and Al was on call for last week. I got called in, but he didn't.
If its Suffolk, they call ~300 people a day (some days more, some less). If you have a number under 1200, you'll most likely get called. Probably not if you're over 1600...
Mine was 1100 somthing, Al's was 1800. My dad's on call for next week and he's 3000+ - he's pretty safe!

I originally got called for jury duty 1 week before my wedding so I postponed it. Now I have to go next week (in CT).

Re: Anyone have to call for Jury Duty?
I had to call everyday last week, my number was 2025. On the fourth day of calling I got a message saying that I don't have to call again and that it counts as good service and I will not be called again for 6 years.

Re: Anyone have to call for Jury Duty?
received a letter in feb under married name. called in for 3 days and was dismissed on the 3rd day. a week later i received another letter for grand jury under my maiden name. ignoring it as it is not my legal name.
ETA: my # was in the 3000's. don't think they even reached the 2000's.

The summons I received for this week had my maiden name and I called and asked them how to change it and they told me to cross it out so I did and wrote my married name, I wonder the next time they send me something if it will be in my maiden name

I have to report if my number is mentioned when I call in. I guess we're getting confused when we hear "get called for jury duty." I have the summons with the jury number and they haven't mentioned my number when I use the call in service. Sorry if I'm confusing you Everything I've gotten in the mail has my maiden name though, that's what I was confused about.

Re: Anyone have to call for Jury Duty?
I was in the 1500s and got called, so I postponed it that night for a holiday week. That week came up and they were calling maybe 50 people a day. They didn't get close to my number!
Postpone it for 7/4 week - there are 2 days off that week!

Re: Anyone have to call for Jury Duty?
I had to call-in two weeks ago. I ended up sitting on a case for three days before they settled. It was actually interesting and better then being at work!

That's why I won't be too upset about it if I get called.

For two of the days, they only kept us half a day....they told us to go out and enjoy the rest of the day and don't even think about going to work (my job pays for the full 8 hour day, so I thought I would have to go to work to finish my day).
